Sorry but I doubt the red wings would be interested in that package. It's alot of mediocre for a really good pick. I like Sharangovich but he isn't worth a first from Detroit.

Well if the Islanders 1st is the 14th, 15th or 16th pick it doesn't go to Detroit. They only way Detroit gets that pick is if the Islanders make the playoffs.

The devils traded for Marino after he had a real bad year for the penguins. They also traded a 3rd, and a guy that had just spent two full seasons with the devils. If you modeled it after that trade, you did a bad job. Then again, you shouldn’t be modeling it off that trade at all, that’s bonkers.

Detroit doesn't need to waste pucks on bodies to fill roles for a year or 2. The number of promising prospects is getting ready to burst. Mazur looks like he might be ready as early as next year, Hanas is a year away, Kasper looks ready as early as next year (though unlikely to skip the AHL), Savage could grind on the 4th line, Soderblom should be good for 3rd line minutes.

The only things that Detroit should address via trade are, most importantly, a top 4 RD followed by a really good 2C that is better than Copp, which don't hit the trade market very often (Horvat would have been perfect). I dint know that there are many teams willing to help Detroit address these needs.

There's nothing in the pick that says the Islanders have to make the playoffs, it's top 12 protected. so 13th and over Detroit gets the pick. I'm pretty sure of that.
