This trade makes no sense for either side imo

Pick that is 28-32 range for Buch is almost as bad as what Drury got, and everyone knows he got hosed. No chance the Blues entertain this offer. Probably looking at Knies + Minten + '24 1st and no retention and I wouldn't even be thrilled about that. You're asking for a player in the same tier as Nylander/Meier/Fiala in terms of impact, and he's the cheapest AAV of any of them for 2.5 more years.

Not enough for Buch. A late 2023 first alone for Buch isn't enough even without retention. And no way we are retaining 50% for 3 years for only a first.

You’re asking for 2.5 seasons of retention. You’re essentially asking for 7.5m dollars to be retained on what’s already one of the better contracts in the league.

Leafs genuinely do not have the pieces to entice the Blues to move Buchnevich that aren’t on their roster.

I don’t even think 2 1sts and Liljegren makes the Blues move Buchnevich at face value of the contract.

Leafs aren't giving up enough on this trade. Not by a long shot.

That would certainly entice the Blues, but I agree it probably doesn't get it done. Buch is their best all around player right now and it's not really close.
