Nashville would want more than that.
Murray doesn't follow their timeline whatsoever, so for starters you'd want to add Woll. Then maybe a top prospect, a 2nd, and a 3rd.
This may be my goalie biased perspective, but a very good goalie is going to be very expensive.

I wouldn't expect them to want Murray...hence my comment noting he'd need to be included with the assumption he brings negative value to the deal.

So even Woll + Murray + 1st + 3rd + another prospect?

Since they're selling I'm hoping they could stomach Murray's cap for 1 more year.

Rather just play Samsonov and resign Samsonov rather than give up anything for Saros. Murray's buyout isn't this expensive . Actually Murray's been fine this year when he has played.

Yeah if you're planning on dumping Murray, I'd guess
Woll + Murray + a 2nd/3rd + A prospect not named Knies (TOR's end) or Robertson (NSH's end).

Hey Palhal...always appreciate your input.

I, for one, am shocked at the amount of turnover Dubas has dished out in an attempt to change the culture of this team. Wouldn't have ever guessed that 30% of the team would be swapped out.

I think he'll look to move Holl now...or Gustafsson maybe...since he won't want to lose anyone on waivers and likely doesn't want 3 Dmen in the press box.

And while I'd be ok to give the net to Samsonov for the playoffs...I think goaltending is the one spot that this roster, and Dubas, is still being questioned on.

I don't think it would make sense to add a guy like Korpisalo for insurance...since there's no use having 3 roster spots take up by goalies

And I don't think Demko is worth the risk

So I'm just hypothesizing what goalie might be available that would actually be a difference maker

I think the best goalie you could get at the TDL without losing too much (goalies are always gonna be pricey at the TDL) would be Gibson, and he's been iffy. You're probably best off with what you have now.

Really? I thought Ekholm would fetch a bigger return. Between 2 1st rounders and prospects (including Woll who looks ready to make the jump next year)...I think the leafs have the assets....just not sure if the juice is worth the squeeze for either team (or if another squad is offering more attractive prospects).

He should come cheaper...but I'm personally nervous on the contract moving forward and his declining performance. But that's personal preference...he could end up being great

Saros is in NSH untouchables list with Josi and Forsberg

Also we really have 0 need for him

Besides rn

Samsonov 30 gp 2.30 GAA and a 0.918 SV

Murray 19 gp 2.73 GAA and a 0.911 SV

Woll 2 gp 2.57 GAA and a 0.929 SV

Kallgrens there to but hes number 4 but in 10gp 2.67 GAA and a 0.900 SV

They good

Playoff Murray also scary 2.18 GAA and a 0.921 SV in 50 gp

Yeah. Your goalies have been doing well. I don't think getting a goalie at the TDL is worth it nor a trade **** would risk.

Hey Palhal...always appreciate your input.

Hey Juice. I know Dubas has been trading like crazy, and I like the short term improvements, but I think it more a problem of the Leafs not developing NHL ready playoffs, so they trade have had to trade away so many future to try to competitive this season (and previous years).

So they beat Tampa...even that is 50/50, don't how any team is stopping the Bruins this year.

You're right about 3 Dmen in the press box, but really I don't think it should be that much of any issue. Hopefully they just rotate some players in and out, and in long playoff run, eight Dman needed is not out of the question.
Maybe they "shut down" Timmins because they don't want lose him to waivers.

If the Leafs are have injury problems at forward they seem to have three NHL ready players (IMO) in Holmberg, Steeves, and McCann with the Marlies who are can be sent back and forth without waivers.

Goalies. Maybe the Leafs have to play Woll, and see if he is NHL good. Looking at next season, I would say they almost need a 766,000 Woll to play effectively if only for cap reason .

You're probably right. Dubas did say a few weeks ago that he'd be looking to make upgrades everywhere except in net....

I do think adding Saros helps with this "all in" approach as well as helps to remove the Murray contract for next year...we'll see how the next 3 days play out I guess.

Thanks for the input

Still seems like a Dubas-type move to me. Samsonov is unsigned for next year and Murray's health is unreliable. To keep them both likely means giving Samsonov an extension in the $5m range...which I'd be ok with as long as Murray's 4.687m is also not on the books.

Samsonov is an RFA and Murray can be moved if need be or boughtout its stupid cheap

And based on what Husso got Toronto could probs sign Jack for less now as GM's have learned 5mill deals are cursed

Campbell, Demko (maybe for this year only), Peterson, etc.

Would not surprise me if he signs a 4.5mill x 3 year deal

This is just personal opinion...but I don't have a lot of confidence for next year if we roll out Murray and Woll...and I don't think we'll be able to afford to re-sign Samsonov if Murray stays....and I'd rather not have to give up a pick again this offseason to have a team take Murray off our hands.

Ideally a re-signed Samsonov + Woll would be an attractive pair for next year

Well I think the a resigned Samsonov at 4.3m X 3 (kinda avoids an offer sheet) and 766000 Woll is the answer plus 667,000 buyout of Murray is the answer. To me that's better than 5m Saros, Woll, and lose those assets to acquire Saros
