I personally think this is an overpay for Ekholm as you're essentially trading 3 first rounders for him but I'm sure Nashville fans will be here shortly to tell you they demand several more pieces of much higher quality for their aging d man making over $6m.

Throw in EDM's 2023 3rd and NSH will make it 1.5 mil retained and give NSH's 2024 4th round and you got a deal.

Ceci isn’t a piece we are interested in, so he’s going to be considered a cap dump coming our way. We need at least two seconds or a first for us to trade Jensen or we’ll just re-sign him.

I like all the deals and this would definitely improve the Oilers for the playoffs. Maybe Oil could retain a bit on Ceci though...

For the record, I think Ceci gets a bad rap sometimes on this site. If he were playing 2nd pairing minutes he would be a very serviceable Dman. His first pass isn't the best but he needs to be paired with a puck mover, and in EDM Nurse isn't the best puck mover, and they are playing Top pairing minutes against high quality comp. Ceci as a #4 D at 3.25M is actually on par with what he is imo.

But I do get he is somewhat of a salary dump in this case since we have no cap space.

I hope the word essentially remembered its back brace, before attempting so much heavy lifting in this sentence.

It's two 1sts and a former 1st who has middle 6 value and has scored 20 in the past. He has some issues staying consistently healthy.

Except Ekholm is wanted by more than a few teams. You're not getting him at that price when other teams are bidding. You are completely ignoring all leverage.

Yamo isnt a 1st round equivalent. Maybe he goes for a 3rd. Thats the same as saying Pulujujarvi is a 1st round equivalent. Schaefer is a late 1st, hes decent but another late 1st isnt getting it done.

The Preds just received a bounty of picks. Any other team can offer a legit A prospect and beat this offer of 'parts'

The offer starts with Broberg, any Oilers fans saying different are homers, point finale.

That aging defenseman would still be your best defensive defenseman. Which is something Edmonton definitely needs. You undervalue Ekholm because he’s not a flashy defenseman but he’s still one of the better defensive defenseman in the league who has played almost every games every year since entering the league playing 22-24 minutes a game. I get you don’t want to pay the price for him but he will be pricey and if you guys want to correct your defense then I think you should make the trade. The base of this trade isn’t bad but I honestly wouldnt want Yamamoto. If your put Yamamoto as still a 1st round talent then switch him out for 24 1st. Hmmm bet he isn’t basically a 1st rounder now huh. I’d rather have some of your lower pick prospects if that’s the case like savioe and petrov. So I’d do savioe, petrov and 23 1st and 2nd and a dump of your choice. By your logic that’s a 1st a 2nd a 4th rounder and a 6th round and a dump

Wingers are pretty tough to move. We've seen their value unless they bring a ton of intangibles like Jeannot. GMs overvalue Tanner, yes, but Yamo is a small forward that breaks down, he cant fight, he just has no cache around the league like a jeannot.
Yamo makes 3.1m AAV the next 2 years and is doing little to nothing rn. With the Oilers tight cap position, they will dump him to make their cap work. He isnt worth much, hes a piece they have to move to get better in a short contention window.

Holland is not moving Broberg. It has nothing to do with Oiler fans being homers. The org. views him an untouchable, which a lot of Oiler fans disagree with.

Because every 32OA pick has a 3rd line ceiling. You don't know how these kids are going to pan out any more than the next person. Easy for you to demand a teams Top Prospect and two 1sts, but its not happening.

You realize Broberg's ceiling is Ekholm right? You understand that the absolule best he can be his Ekholm, correct? You realize the Oilers have McDavid and Draisaitl in their primes, correct?

So why you holding Broberg for later when the Oilers might not even be in their contention window?! Makes little sense and is simply stubbornness.
Other teams are bidding you have to convince Poile to give Ekholm to you and the only way is to make an offer he cant refuse. You understand, right?

I'm pretty sure hes not looking at that offer going, oh my, a bunch of 3rd liner prospects, and maybe the 30th pick in the draft, how can i say NO?

He was a reach at 32OA, his skating isn't great, and professional evaluators such as Scott Wheeler project him to be a bottom six forward.

Easy for you to demand a team's top four defenseman, the likes of which your team desperately needs for underwhelming futures, cap dumps, and four years of retained salary, but it's not happening.

I offered a 1st, 2nd, 3rd for Mccabe at retention and Lafferty and Oilers homers went nuts. Some ppl simply dont understand what trading means especially at the TDL when you are competing with other bids. That offer for example would have beaten the Leafs offer with the extra 3rd. That 'overpay' got the Oilers team much better. It isnt about winning the trade, its about winning the players. Too many here have it twisted and will die on the hill because of ego. So many could never make a deal as a GM as they dont know how to compromise. Probably the biggest asset for a GM

I think its fair to assume the return, if it even happens... (Dreger mentioning Chychrun to EDM is gaining traction), will be something in the middle. Maybe Bourgault instead of Schaefer, and another Conditional 2nd or something. I just don't see Broberg getting moved. Like I said, Holland values him too much.
