Columbus says no. The Gavrikov deal with Boston reportedly partially hit a snag because CBJ didn't want to take back Smith. On a team with about 15 NHL-caliber forwards when healthy (granted about 10-11 of them are bottom-6 caliber), another bottom-6 forward in Foegele and contract spot for Niemeläinen moves the needle backward. That, coupled with an underwhelming 2nd+5th for Gavrikov with retention, and the Jackets say no.

It is really difficult to gauge the market for Gavrikov now, but I have a feeling that if Jarmo doesn't at least get a 1st, he's just going to keep him. That, or move him to the team with the best picks-only package.

Looking at Edmonton's prospect list, the only guys that hold interest for me (apart from guys like Broberg and Bouchard, obvs.) are Holloway, Bourgault, and Rodrigue. Niemelainen... eh, maybe. But he's a complementary piece, not something really tempting.
