Kane

Description
Unless this site is off, the Rangers would be 75K over cap if they trade Jake and Vitali to the Hawks for Kane. The only player that won't need waivers to be sent down is Schneider. They can call up another player who's cap hit is $75K less than Schneider. (Ignore the trade package, who knows what the price will be at this point).

Could this be how they do it?

Bro if that is all it took for Kane he wouldve been gone a looooong time ago. Plus this is 2.6 mil against the cap. Even without Hajek

He wouldn't have been gone a long time ago because he hasn't made his decision. The entire trade is based around him making a decision. The rangers currently have 908K in deadline cap space, as cap space is accrued daily as long as a team isn't utilizing LTIR. Check out the teams tab on this website.

The Hawks are not trading away Patrick Kane for a 2nd, player equivalent to a 3rd, and the worst player in the NHL. They just arent. Maybe for Domi or McCabe.

I specifically said to ignore the trade package in the description, as it's not the point of this post. If Kane gives the hawks one team at a time as it's been reported, they might not get much. Even then, i'm trying to see how the money works for the Rangers.

If that 2nd doesn't have some easily attainable conditions to turn into a 1st, this would be a failure.

I would be very pissed off of this was the return for Kane. I don't know how they do it, but some people say it'll work.

I don't know what the package is going to look like. if he gives the hawks one team, they have no negotiating leverage.

I'd also mention though that Brisson has come out and said there's a lot of teams inquiring. That could mean literally nothing, but at least he's not saying the opposite PLUS, Brisson was Giroux's agent and Kaner doesn't want to hurt the Hawks. I think he'd appreciate being properly valued.

Think of it this way. If Chicago did have more leverage, the return would be WAAAYYY more than a 1st and a prospect.

Of course, but unfortunately that's not reality. The hawks will likely get a better package for McCabe than Kane.

The rangers scratching Kravtsov and Leschyshyn makes it pretty obvious that it'll be the Rangers. His comments about the Tarasenko trade, I think it's just a matter of when he's ready to say goodbye to the Blackhawks and the fans.

Hoping LA goes after McCabe for the right price.

That is reality. If not, CHI should just not trade him. The end. Everyone falling back to this "get what you can" argument is lame. Other teams need to pay the price or buzz off. End of story. CHI has no obligation to move him if they don't like the offer. I'd rather see Davidson inspiring confidence and negotiating from a place of strength than bending over like Bowman always did.

Yes, I do think so and I hope so.

“If the value’s not met, then you value the player more than anyone else,” Davidson said. “So we’re happy with the players that are here. We value them more than other teams around the league, clearly. We’re happy they’re still with the Blackhawks.” ~Kyle Davidson.

Plus, do you think kaner wants to be disrespected with a $hitty trade offer. I don't think he wants to hurt CHI like that.

Hahaha he gave them 3 cups. I don’t think they treat hit like garbage. Hall was a 3rd after giving 1 team. If Kane is picking 1 team then anything more than a 3rd or a 2nd is a big win. It won’t be close to what he would go for if there wasn’t a NTC in place but I’m hearing Zac jones is likely to be included also. No idea what picks are going to be involved but Jones and Kravs are more than the Hall deal immediately. He’s not being forced to stay over the package though.

I don't think that's an option. KD has said all season he will respect their wishes. If Kane's wish is going to the Rangers, then he's going to the Rangers. It's just the nature of a unique situation. Keeping him to fall further away from last in the league and worse Bedard odds is a worse outcome than trading him for peanuts. This team needs to suck to get Bedard, if they only get a 2nd, they only get a 2nd.

As you noted the ACGM calculator is off some. One way to get the cap is If Leschyshyn is waived by 2/25 then the cap space at the tdl will be around 1.75M (a nominal amount higher) and this plus kravy's 875k brings you to Kane 75% retained. There is a lot starting to seep out and who knows exactly what details are accurate, but it seems the Hawks have known for some time that it was NYR only, and tried to play it hard but were rejected. Now the expectation from local pundits is something along the line of your package. My thought is that the deal is already done, but it can't go through till the last day of the tdl to make the cap work. The first trigger will be if Leschyshyn gets waived/traded.

Yes. Considering the teams below the hawks keep losing. Absolutely.
