Why would Detroit trade for two LD? We already have 5 LD on our roster and we have the deepest prospect pool in the entire league on that position.

Kuzmin, even though he puts up some decent points in his league, isn't of much interest to us. Schmidt has a 5.95M cap hit for two more seasons. I'm not against trading for him but we aren't going to do the Jets any favors. You want Kubalik and for us to take Schmidt I think we would be wanting one of Lucius, Lambert, Salomonsson or McGroarty in the trade.

I would take Schmidt since he's mostly played on the right side, but not with those sweeteners. That's a big cap hit for a few more years.

Kubalik is an underrated target. I think WPG looked at him at last year's deadline, so I could see Chevy looking into him again. Trade values are definitely off tho.

We have plenty of room for a guy like Kubalik, Come on. Schmidt makes nearly $6,000,000 for the next 2 years after this no thanks. If Yzerman put Kubs on the block we can do better than this.

There's already a log jam starting to form in Minnesota for LD. We currently have 4 on the roster when healthy as it is and most of our defensive prospects are LD. Trading Dumba and a pick for another makes no sense.
