I have absolutely zero interest in swapping Demko and Jarry. Both are often injured but really good when they're healthy. But Jarry is having one of the best seasons of his career and Demko is having one of the worst of his career. I'm not doing Demko for Jarry 1-for-1 right now, let alone adding to aquire Demko.

In general, Bertuzzi is the only thing here that I think is a significant improvement on this team, and he's probably going to get sunk by being centered by Jeff Carter.

We definitely are. Sid is still sid. Geno is playing well. Top 2 lines are great. Team is championship level if they can trade for a new bottom 6.

Why have the Penguins' two top lines not scored enough recently? Until more players score more to be back on par, the Penguins are tumbling as contenders.

The Penguins do not need to trade a goaltender for a goaltender. Jarry would benefit by playing games than being a continued scratch as a coaching decision.

Jarry's scratched because he's hurt. I don't personally think the Penguins need to aquire or sell a goalie at all, I think the problem to be addressed is that they need to play better defense in front of those goalies.

Why has Jarry been a game time decision for approximately two weeks?

Because Sullivan and Jarry's doctors want to make sure he's fully healthy before throwing him back on the ice for him to instantly get hurt again. I'm sure everyone in the organization wants Jars back in net ASAP, but if he's not ready, then putting him in is bad for him and bad for the team.

And if I want to play Devil's advocate. Demko reportedly suffered another setback in his recovery a couple days ago, and hasn't played a game since December 1st. It looks to me like Jarry will be back first.

Counterpoint: Jarry is seeing the necessary medical professionals for maintenance purposes and no further issues. Being healthy, not playing, and being poorly conditioned can become another issue if Jarry's return is furthered delayed.

Can't really find much specific about it. This is what Pens Inside Scoop had to say a few days ago, which doesn't really specify if it's recovering from an injury or if it's just maintenance.
I find it hard to believe that he would be fully healthy and not playing. My faith in Hextall is low, but not that low.

The two top lines are scoring sporadically. Rust has not showed up recently.

Scoring means scoring goals consistently to win games consistently. It does not mean score two to four goals and blow games for the sake of losing.

The top two lines are scoring. Period. Sid is top 3 in even strength points. Malkin PPG. The top 6 is championship caliber.

The bottom 6 is not even playoff worthy. Arguably worst in the league.

2 lines don’t make you a contender. It’s not the 90s anymore. Contenders need 4 lines and they need a goalie that can stay healthy.
