Drouin has ZERO goals this year. I'd rather have Kappy.

I would rather have the zero cap hit for next year at this point

10 pts in 9 games JD versus 3 pts in 10 games KK
17 pts in 32 games JD versus 19pts in 40 games KK
14min average JD versus 12min average for KK
Dead split at 8 PP points each but KK needed 8 more games to do it.

Even half broken and injured Drouin's got more value then KK especially for his ability to QB 2nd PP unit which no one's done at a high level since Kessel left.
We can include Yloenen if you change it to Kapanen and a 3rd or 4th round pick .It gives PIT cap relief and a RFA to develop who like his dad will likely need another year before coming into the NHL as a regular bottom 6 player in the NHL .



MTL's upside here is his brother's a high end faceoff center for Finland and Captain of their latest National team for the IIHF .
He could jump over anytime and even if he doesnt play with him like the Pitlick's its a fun fantasy for media to write about .
What we do know is its better then nothing after what we gave up for Drouin even a pity RFA ina cap dump is worth something

This is probably why MTL turns it down. Contracts aside, Drouin for Kapanen is probably fair.

It's amazing you can type that much stuff and still be wrong.

Kapanen is scoring at a significantly higher rate than Drouin this season at 5v5. 2pts/60 vs 1.32/60. Not to mention Kap actually has some goals and decent percentage of primary assists unlike Drouin. And he's done this while getting a significantly lower percentage of ozone starts and playing with Carter and McGinn. Neither is doing great but would definitely rather have Kap - and don't think Drouin has more value at all
