despite what the rest of the league thinks, there's zero need or want from chi to trade seth jones. He's about to be names the next captain of the hawks. Willy is a UFA in a year and will just walk. Holl and Brodie are zero value to the hawks as well. This doesn't make sense to either side really but at least TOR gets better here. Hawks get worse and zero futures.
I highly doubt the Hawks get worse after this trade unless you meant in the race for Bedard.
If the Hawks wanted to get rid of Jones and recuperate what they wanted to give up for him, this would be the perfect deal. They would just trade Nylander this year for 3 1sts. Brodie has an NTC so there's no way he waives unless he's getting flipped elsewhere, and the Hawks will easily get a 1st+ out of him. Holl will just be kept.
If they can land this deal then forget about trying to move Toews and Domi if it requires retention, and use the last two slots on Nylander and Brodie to yield a larger return. Toews can remain the captain, and CHI will probably be able to shorten their 5-year rebuild by many years, especially if they land Bedard.
Jones probably doesn't waive to play in Canada, and Brodie probably doesn't waive to leave Toronto, but what I'm certain of is that Dubas doesn't offer this trade to Davidson while in his right mind.
