Avs can get Henrique without moving Girard. That's the way to go. You don't want to rob an already depleted back end.

As a Ducks fan, I'll start by saying that we're ripping you off here. I'd absolutely love to add Girard, and would pee my pants if this happened, but I think you're better off holding on to him.

Oh man, don't get me started. The Avs have an outstanding top six (if/when healthy) but little depth beyond that. I hate seeing Girard trades without some sort of move to plug that hole immediately thereafter. Hunt is decent, but other than that it's pretty bad.

It would be a no from Colorado. It makes more sense to chase a guy like Henrique with pure futures (i.e. make a straight add to their current team).

I don't see him as a fit in Anaheim. we have a potential clone in Girard with Zellweger, and we have Mintyukov, and Lacombe, and possibly Thrun, on top of still having Benoit and Vaakainen and Fowler. We just don't have room on the left side, and I think we have seen this year what happens when you have too many puck moving defensemen without enough shutdown guys.

Girard is a great player, but he is not the kind of player that Anaheim needs.

I'm going to stick with my view that "Prospects are simply prospects, until they're not". Yes, a couple of years down the road there might be a logjam, but if that happens, you simply move prospects for a proven player to go elsewhere in the lineup.

I absolutely get where you're coming from, and I absolutely hope every one of those guys works out, but you know what you're getting here in Girard, which is likely the ceiling for most of the kids.

All of that being said, Colorado most assuredly is not trading Girard away for Rico, so we might as well stick to trying to get a 2023 1st (+?) for him

That should be an easy no to the Avs and easy yes for the Ducks. Like others have said you don't need to trade Sammy to get Rico.
