True, But I guess Horvat can be our next "Nelson" going forward. This team just needs an overhaul. No one is safe

OH BY THE WAY, LOU AND LAMBERT NEED TO GO FIRST!!!!

His job is probably on the line. He's the first one getting fired this offseason if they don't make it so he went in and tried to make it happen.

I think by getting/extending Horvat he just bought himself another year. He will save his decades old cup rinds in front of ownership and they'll be mesmerized. I hope I'm wrong.

i think ownership is desperate to have playoff games in the new arena, which i get, but i think they think lou is the solution rather than what he is, which is part of the problem.

I think you should all take solace in the fact that right now, by percentage (not points), the Isles are in the 12th slot.

The problem is, I (we) thought the new owners cared about this community and team. But it's clear, this is all about making a profit. And yes, I get it guys why shouldn't they. But to me, they are looking short term and not worried about the future which makes me think once we have to "truly' break this done and we suck for years. This ownership is going to bail and sell this team.

The pick only transfers to Arizona if Ladd plays 0 games AND retires before the end of this season.

He's on LTIR right now, there's zero need for him to announce his retirement until July 1st - meaning that it's basically a done deal that the pick is transferring.

    Incorrect. https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/6466?twitter_img=16268169082

**Conditions: The pick is transferred to Arizona if Ladd:
    1. Does not play in any professional games in 2022-23 while under his current contract,
    AND
    2. Does not retire prior to the conclusion of the 2022-23 regular season

Condition 1: Andrew Ladd is still being paid under the contract he signed with the Islanders, and has not played a professional game this year (and assumedly won't going forward.) I'd say this condition is met.

Condition 2: Andrew Ladd has not retired. He is still considered an active NHL player at this moment. The league year (and his current contract) expire on June 30th; if Andrew Ladd does not formally file retirement papers with the league before then, then the second condition will have been met as well. Hell, the way that condition is worded makes me think he could file retirement papers during the first round of the playoffs and it still would be met.

    Regular season, not league year.

So, yes, exactly what I said: he could file his retirement papers on the first day of the playoffs and the condition would still convey. There's really no reality where he plays a game or announces his retirement in the middle of the season, so the pick is a lock to be sent to Arizona.
