Interesting ideas, but I’d go something like:
Meier > Reinhart
*Meier just brings more to the table
Barbashev > Greenway
*not a fan of Greenway at all
McCabe > Martinez
*i think bringing back McCabe would be a perfect fit

I do like the Foligno idea quite a bit

I'm a MTL fan so the trade i should focus my shock on should be my own.
That said all i can say about that VGK trade is "No Lube" as their system is bone dry for RD and when Martinez is out they struggle even after finding Korczak to help with that. Martinez hasnt been dumped because when he plays its more or less on the same level he has overall once you with a dip in the offense and his 3 seasons over 30 points likely to remain his career high . Then the rest of the time he's on LTIR buying them 5m in breathing room.

While moving him might help they'd have to replace him and it would cost 3.5-4m with a term commitment anyways.
Its cheaper to ride it out and wait until you find Pietrangelo and Whitecloud a 3rd RD to replace Martinez (as when he's out of the line up they struggle)

Korczak is their best hope at his age, size and style of play he can be molded
That said if a deal was to be done a RD greater then either Martinez or Korczak has to come in the deal as VGK doesnt have the depth to replace 1 let alone both.
As far as i see there's no RD that fit that description available in BUF

What makes less sense if LAK has not 1 but 2 RD they got to move and you went after a team with no RD depth.
More over event with both Walker and Roy gone Spence with Brandt in the AHL now is given the same chance Durzi was to breakout after being held down the same way for too long due to overcrowding.
Walker fits BUF needs and you might be able to straight up move him for Bjork and a 3rd or 4th round pick

I know, I always just wish they made it work. For as much as we all have them trading for another winger, I don't see a splashy one. Greenway makes the most sense if they were to go get a guy based off of Granato's liking for him and the cost to acquire him.

I pretty much agree with you on all of that. I think out of all of the moves, you're spot on with McCabe being the perfect fit. He fills so many needs and is already familiar with the team/city. He would be my top trade deadline target.

I think McCabe would be my top target as well
Our forwards are in good shape for the most part
Adams seems like he wants to let the Power-Jokiharju pair stay together & see how it goes
LD3 seems to be our biggest weakness
And i think I’d let the goalies play out

If i were making a wish list (within reason) for this season :
1- McCabe, for obvious reasons
2- Meier, power forward for the playoffs would help
3- Barbashev, good 2way game could fit nicely
4- Foligno, but we might have a better shot in the offseason

This season very much feels like when the Bills broke the playoff drought. We are ahead of schedule but we don't want to give up too many assets and derail from the plan. I like that list a lot, and I think Foligno would be such a great addition as well. Just like McCabe, knows the team/city and is a leader and something they are missing. I see a lot of Minnesota fans saying the GM won't give him up, but he also makes over $3m and is getting older. Him and McCabe deserve to be part of the success of the team for all the losing they dealt with when here.

Seems like we think a lot alike here
Like i said before, i like the Foligno idea. He could slide right into either Okposo or Girgs’ slot next year
And I’m with you on not speeding up the current rebuild- not unless it makes sense
Meier, for example, makes sense in the long run, as well as helps now.

Barbashev will be UFA, so he could wait. But if he’s cheap enough, then adding him now makes sense to me as well.

RD can wait imo, i wanna see how Power & Jokiharju finish out the year together.
And I’m ok waiting on goalie as well since UPL & Anderson are winning games.

It’s obvious we are moving in the right direction (finally)
Good times are coming !
