Not disagreeing on Couture's game, but Burns remains kind of a gamer still.

The difference here is we are waiting for Burns' game.to fall off a cliff due to his age. Couture conversely, if moved to the wing has an extended shelf life.

Putting together a package similar to that of Burns maybe closer than further than one thinks if the Sharks are entering a rebuild.

That's too much retention. having Cooch at 4.5 Mil cap hit would be criminal. Even in his later years, that's crazy good value, given his game isn't really based on production and speed and would likely age well. I think 2 mil retained would be acceptable if the return is good enough, but 3.5 is way too much.

You can keep both truthfully if Bunting is willing to go term over AAV.

I think Burns and Cooch would both keep their game up as they age, though for completely different reasons. Couture plays a high IQ game and isn't reliant on speed, high-end skill, etc.. So his game wouldn't need a lot of adjusting as he ages. And Burns is a just a physical anomaly. 730+ Iron man streak going right now and is in insane shape

Interesting idea for sure. Even at this cap hit, '24-'27 seasons could be a real struggle depending on how much the gap goes up year over year. By then he'll be a middle to bottom 6 player one would think. But legit top 6 player for this and next season at least.

Probably not enough for CHI with everyone having term remaining.
