That was one of the most bizarre trades I've seen. It isn't like the Zibanejad-Brassard deal which was fine in the moment, the Buchnevich trade looked bad the moment it happened.

Can’t the defend the trade itself but I understand why they did it. Kravtsov was SUPPOSED to be the heir apparent if you will. But he decided to throw a tantrum about working harder and now two years later he’s STILL a question mark. THATS
is the reason he was traded. They weren’t going to pay one guy another 6 million. Here’s a question, if he’s still here..who isn’t here next year? Miller? laf? Chytil

For god sake get over it already. It was a failed trade, it happens. Drury should be commented for his TDL last year. He got 3 guys who ended up being integral in the run.

Instead of paying Buch they paid Goodrow + Reaves about 500K less than what Buch signed for.
So NYR made the conscious choice between skill and grit…in the interest of getting more difficult to play against.
Horrible decision, in my opinion- but you’re right….time to turn the page and move on. Hopefully they learned something- we’ll see soon enough!
