Détails additionnels:
Anderson on pace for another 20 goal season. Lebrun already stated that Hughes has refused a 1st for Anderson. It's going to take more for this type of player. Whomever loses out on Meier will circle to Anderson. A late 1st +young roster player+ok prospect is the demand. This is the low end on a return so don't bother with tired analytics argument and your feelings when reports have been out there for anyone to read.

Devils dont have anyone close to Anderson to slot in that role

Miles Wood.
He isn't that great either but has a lesser cap hit that disappears after this season...

Dumping Anderson with half retention would cost a top 5 2023 1st?

It probably should, yes.
Josh Anderson isn't worth the 2.75m cap space, to say nothing of 5.5m.

He's not a playmaker. He's also not a goalscorer (T-95th for goals). He's just a pretty bad hockey player, and the Devils, with a smart analytics team who have a large say in decisions, will not be paying a price even remotely this large for a 4th liner.

Okay, so virtually every response I see in this forum shows a bias for what their team’s players and prospects are worth…I am going to try and weigh in as non-Montreal/NJ fan. Anderson’s annual stats are largely affected by his injury history…only twice in his career has he exceeded 70 games. Over an 82 game season, he projects as a 20+ goal a year player. That is not 4th line. He would make a decent depth scoring piece for a team looking for a net front, power forward.

So looking for a comparable deadline deal….. PHI will be shopping JVR at the deadline and is speculated at something like a 2023 2nd and a 2024 3rd or 4th in return and lwould almost certainly not exceed two 2nd rounders. JVR plays a similar game, is a better playmaker/passer and has scored at a higher rate and produced more on the PP than Anderson for his career. I know Anderson is younger, but I would expect a deal for him to be similar, if not slightly less.

again, Anderson has had one single 0.5 ppg season in the NHL. JVR, in comparison, has had 13 in his 14 seasons. Josh Anderson is indeed a 4th liner for the Devils, because, while he can score goals, he cannot play higher in the lineup because of how 1-dimensional he is and he isn't defensive enough to play in a 3rd line shutdown situation.

JVR is a rental, who fully retained costs 3.5M. JA costs 5.5M for the next four years.

Not only that, his analytics are horrific and the Devils are a major analytics organization. It's just not happening, especially at this price.

I agree Anderson would be hard to move. Not even sure if MTL would get something in return or have to pay to dump him.

But saying it would take a top 5 2023 1st to move him is just ridiculous. If he gets traded for something, you're going to look so bad.

Your question should be at best rhetorical otherwise it's meaningless as any poster can create an account and call McDavid a cap dump. What is your point? The whole idea is that the market sets the price, you are talking as if ppl here set the price which is the common mistake. You are NOT trading to get people to agree with you, you are trying to guess the market

Anderson would definitely cheaper, but absolutely still not worth the cost, given he’s not a good hockey player and all.

I figured there was something newer than Dreger from back in November/December

Frank and Pierre last linked them in the summer, right?
Since then Montreal beats have driven the story into the ground. Frank definitely has NJ sources, but I’m skeptical about anything that comes from Pierre’s mouth. And even then, the cost here doesn’t line up with market value, when Josh Anderson, who has been proven here to be a less than adequate addition to the team, would cost what Timo Meier and elite winger will cost to trade for

The thing about NJ’s reluctance is it’s no secret that the analytics department has a very very large role in the decision making progress for any moves the team makes, and while Josh Anderson is scoring goals right now, his underlyings have been largely atrocious consistently

why are the devils giving up a B+ prospect, a young roster player, and a 1st for a guy who is a minor upgrade over miles wood?? thats a shakir Mukhamadullin away from being a timo package??

i wouldn't take josh anderson unless a 1st round pick comes with it bc hes a 4 year cap dump.

He is well on pace to score 20 plus on a crappy non playoff team!
Put him on a stronger team with depth up front and the guy might score 30!

Miles wood also was on pace to score 20 on a crappy team a couple years ago. also much cheaper.

Anderson is on the top line with Suzuki and Harvey Pinard and producing as a power forward which is rare. Devils dont have anyone close to Anderson to slot in that role. You make him sound like Bastian which is ludicrous. Please find me one report of Bastian's interest around the league? I can find you dozens with legit insiders like Lebrun and Seravelli confirming the reports on Josh.
Oh right.. Bastian was exposed in expansion and then claimed off waivers by the same team!

I'd rather have bastian than Anderson.

There's a new insider every week or so linking Anderson to NJ. Can't blame people for reading those articles and make ACGM about them. Are those insiders clickbaiting? Probably.

Or maybe where there's smoke there's fire. NJ need a RW and they need to get bigger. Maybe they'd rather add a physical 20 goal scorer instead of a 2-way 30 goal scorer like Meier.

You are asking for a Horvat type return. Garland isnt a center for one which limits his value. 2 he is not having a career year! Just go look at any Garland ACGM tell where someone is offering a RHD top prospect like Justin Barron?

Haters going to hate.

Had an ACGM last year where I undervalued Lekhonen, Chiarot and Kulak returns while not one positive comment in the thread. More of the same. Cant wait to bump. It will be fun for a day. Haters go into their holes and then unfortunately remerge. I can post their names but they simply will flag the comment and thread will be deleted. Real people.

Saying "You are asking for a horvat like return" while actually asking for a horvat like return for JOSH ANDERSON is wild.

I think Hughes would love a big power forward winger on his line. It worked for McDavid and Kane. Think he could make Anderson score 25+ goals again? I think easily.

I think jack hughes would enjoy playing with an actually good player on his wing.

Also comparing Kane, whos never been below 0.5 ppg since his rookie year and was a near PPG player his last year in SJS, and anderson whos been above 0.5 ppg ONCE, is certainly a take

I said Anderson could be a big forward on Hughes line, and how it worked for McDavid and Kane. Where did i say Anderson is as good as Kane?

You have to understand, using two name in the same sentence doesn't mean i'm comparing them as players, just similar situations.

I asked you if Hughes could have Anderson score 25+ goals and you didn't answer so i'll consider it's a yes.

Hughes could have Anderson score 25 goals and it would be a worse line than just leaving him with haula who wins faceoffs and is strong defensively, or yegor, or mercer, or any number of already existing devils players. Adding anderson on his wing will make the hughes line worse, not better.
Anderson is also expensive with term, which will prevent the devils from resigning other players (eg Ryan Graves)

I agree adding Anderson salary would be difficult. However, NJ being the one of softest team in the NHL, they need some toughness and grit on their top 6 for playoffs, especially on Hughes line.

Its called a market.
Its wild that you think what you think is value is what matters the most as opposed to you know the GMs around the league that set the price and that price has been confirmed over and over by Dreger, Seravelli and Lebrun.
