Description
my last nelson trade caused much discussion so i'm trying again, this one def favors ny more than the last one but they're also retaining more money so i think the extra value is warranted.

Minnesota very quickly declines. They aren't giving up yurov, lottery pick stolen in late 1st who they want to pair with kaprizov as the Russian face of wild. No from wild

Depending on whether Guerin would feel comfortable giving up a top prospect in any trade when so far in his years in Minnesota he has refused saying, 'He would rather build through draft.' Everything depends on Brackett and Guerin Willingess and so far since judd brackett has come aboard, Guerin has refused to move any 1st or prospects in trade

Minnesota isn’t in a position to sell, and even with NY’s recent struggles retaining 50% on an all star center’s contract for two and a half years costs more then this guys package would cost. I’m not saying I would pay the price I’m describing, I’m just saying that’s what they would want.

Why are you retaining on Nelson at all? He doesn’t have to be traded to Minnesota…. Tbh he doesn’t have to be traded at all. And even if there was a reason they needed to move him, the isles have no incentive to **** up the cap situation lol. This is the exact opposite of San Jose wanting a haul to retain on Karlsson. You are just robbing the islanders blind and getting scraps in return.

they should trade him if they're retooling, and his value is the highest if they retain. they have the cap space and won't be good next year anyway. nelson's never going to be more valuable than he is rn.

People said that about Nelson last year too…. I mean a lot of y’all thought he would regress. I got a lot of things wrong about the isles, mainly due to my prior loyalty to Josh Bailey, but I wasn’t wrong about Nelson lmao.

You don’t retain for 2+ years unless ur retaining a very small portion like Kessel, or you are getting an absolute haul. In this case you did neither. People said Nelson would regress all summer, and they were dead wrong. I may have been overly sentimental when it came to my Bailey take, but I was right about Nelson then and I’m still right now.

Unless yurov is significantly better than I realize then I think minnesota would say yes. Yeah some guys had him as a lottery puck, but we saw that with Gurianov too. Either way any Islanders fan who suggests retaining on Nelson for multiple years is off their rocker. Maybe I could c NY including a Mayfield for Dumba swap to balance salary this year, which tbh I would jump on if I was minnesota. Dumba has not impressed me this year.

but why risk it? deal him now when he's coming off two good years and get the most you'll ever get for him. the team won't be a cup contender the next two seasons.

I never said you don’t move him. I said your take on retention is ludicrous at best and at worst it’s Mike Millbury level. Just include a Dumba/Mayfield swap than flip Dumba and retain fifty percent. Easy fix.

Also add a b level prospect to the Mayfield deal. My buddy who is a lightning fan once told me and I quote “Myers is so bad that he makes me want to gouge my eyes out.” And tbh I’m inclined to agree.

Yeah, yurov is very like kaprizov and Russia is punishing him with less playing time so he would resign , so far they haven't succeeded. Yurov is going nowhere. Wild aren't trading their next kaprizov and Russian who will be face of wild along kaprizov. Minnesota wouldn't say yes

Hey if you are high on Yurov that’s good enough for me! People mock isles fans for being high on raty, and in some cases they have a point cause a lot of fans couldn’t tell you why they liked him. But there’s gonna come a day when he proves his doubters wrong and I’m gonna laugh my ass off when he does.

myers is really just there to level out the cap for tampa and because he's fully buriable next year, if he sucks all the better, i want a higher pick

The islanders aren’t making the playoffs for the next 2-3 seasons, selling high on a 31 year old makes sense.

Russia sucks. Every good player gets punished/ blackmail with playing on 4th line or not playing at all. They did that , he didn't budge and after almost a month, he's now back on their 1st line

Isles will do what they need to do in order to keep Sorokin. Idk why you think selling on Nelson helps this.

It's. Like they literally tried arresting kaprizov this summer and Minnesota had to get him out secretly or paid a price to assure his safety. Minnesota all but said is government was involved.

Yeah yeah he’s 31. He’s also 6-3, a great skater for his size and on an incredibly reasonable deal. Retaining on him would be stupid af. Then again you wanted to take Cal Petersen back in a Sorokin deal just so you could get Kaliyev lmao.

The 1st could be anywhere from 18-28 , and you’re ignoring that there is a very good prospect involved too.

Even if the market for Nelson was a 2nd they still need to move him. The point is they need to sell high and get rid of players who won’t be a part of the next good isles team. That means Sorokin needs to be traded too.
