Let's say Dumba is traded ( which he probably will be before the deadline ) where do you guys see him going? I could see him going to Edmonton or Ottawa.

Either/or.

Something before nothing is always better.

To be frank.

Putting him with Brodin is our best option. Brodin is the only defender on the team who can cover for Addison's shortcomings, just like he did for Dumba all these years. Until Addison can get his defensive play in order, that's who his D-partner should be.

Unless they’ve already decided they’re moving on from him, I don’t know why they wouldn’t try him in that role for the rest of the year after the Dumba trade. I get we want to win but I would rather know if Addy can handle those minutes or not.

I've zero issue giving him that spot next year. Faber should be tried at 3rd pairing anyway while he gets acclimated to the NHL anyway.

Giving it to him this year is entirely dependent on whether we move Dumba by the deadline, IMO.

I'll ask this question as well. If Dumba is traded, let's say for a young prospect and a pick, does that make Minnesota better or worse? It sounds like Dumba is solid defensively so why would you trade him? Is it just because the Wild feel they can't re sign him?

100% this is the reason I don’t get Russo’s talk of them wanting to replace Dumba if they trade him. Moving Dumba makes you worse and I’m not sure you can get an upgrade on Addison/Goose on that 2nd pair.

Watch me be totally wrong and we see a massive roster overhaul.

In theory, I agree…but I think those 2 would be a completel disaster in the playoffs!

Worse. I think you trade him because they’re hearing Chariot type packages and you have guys that are a slight downgrade ready to step in.

The Boldy deal being what it is indicates peaking and spending in 3 years and an extra 1st this year could be a game changer for the org.

It feels more like he's implying that Guerin would only do it for a lateral move *this* year. Someone who's a rental but won't block things next year.

Someone like Schenn, for example. Which is probably why he's echoed that Guerin is interested in him.

That's idiotic.

Size is overrated.

The issue isn't that we lack it. It's that it's unevenly distributed.

It's all on the left side of the ice. If we even had one defender with size on the right side it wouldn't be an issue.

Size, in the playoffs, is most definitely NOT overrated!

I don't think OTT makes sense unless it's strictly to sign him long-term, but I don't know why they would pay for him now. EDM makes the most sense, but getting ride of Barrie would be hard and the Wild cannot take him back so Puli coming back to make costs work makes sense, but he would just be a throw in and maybe the Wild flip him as I don't see him working in their lineup.

I think the Pens have a need on the RD with only Letang, WPG could use an upgrade at RD as well.

And IF the Wild had one big RHD, he should absolutely play with Brodin!

Tell that to the Penguins and Blackhawks.

Neither team had size on the back end and they each won 3 cups. But their defenses were still top ten in the leagues those year's.

Size is not the end all be all.... you can have 6-8 Tyler Myers back there all you want, but he will not be that helpful. Lots of cup winning teams haven't had massive blue lines, but the Blues did and they won with size because that is the game they played. TBL have some big bodies on their blue line but they can move the puck quite well -- Cernak would be an awesome addition to any team going to the playoffs.

I'm not sure Brodin plays small, he just doesn't play physical, but he is very good at taking direct lines and closing gaps with body position enabling him to not have to hit as much, but still very effective moving the puck with pace.

No, I'm stating facts. I never compared this year's Wild to anything.

I simply stated that neither Dynasty had much size on their defensive cores. Which basically refutes your point that size matters in the playoffs.

I’m a very big Brodin fan! However, he and Spurgeon simply are not the same players in the post season as they are in the regular season! Not even close!
