Blues don't have the cap space to be taking on Mantha. You are getting around it right now and in this trade by moving Tarasenko and O'Reilly but these guys will both be back before the trade deadline in which they are moved. At some point you'd have to make a roster work with Mantha, O'Reilly, Krug and Tarasenko all on it which just isn't going to be a thing.

Isles don’t need to add Nikko Mikkola to play third pair minutes. They’ve gotten solid results from Aho and Romanov, and they still have salo and bolduc in the system if Wotherspoon falls out of favor.
