Uzzi couldn't shine Marner's shoes. They're not in the same league. If he was making less than a million and had been healthy all season then he would attract more suitors and teams would cough up a 1st round pick. But, that's not the reality. Kuz has 34 points in 37 games (17 goals) and a +10 with less than a mill in cap. With him included in this deal with schenn, who both combine for about 1.7 mill in cap I think a decent prospect or young player would have to be included for Toronto to get him, with second or third round pick or both of them removed based on how good the prospect/player is. For comparison sake Patrick Kane has 27 points in 37 games (7 goals) and is a -24, and would be 5 mill in cap with 50% retention. Granted he is on a worse team and does have plenty of playoff experience

Ben Chariot is a bottom pairing defender, a very very very bad one. He is worth, at most, a league minimum contract, Yzerman gave him almost 5x more than what he is worth considering what he brings to the team. Matthews, Tavares and Marner are all extremely good hockey players that would be 1st liners on any team not from edmonton and over paid by less all together than Chariot is all by himself , Yzerman got fleeced bad and you've only highlighted by how much.

Philly declines. Knies is a great foundation but the fact that the first rounder is 2024 makes trading Konecny less enticing. Engvall and the 4th don’t bridge enough of the gap to where we would make a deal rather than just keep him around.
