Description
Some quick thoughts:

- Domi will be shopped at the deadline, but I believe the Hawks will hold on to him if they can not get any better than a 3rd round pick in return. He has played well and the Hawks will need a center capable of playing in the top-6 next season, especially if Toews is traded.

- The Kane / Toews returns will be a bit underwhelming, in my opinion. Davidson doesn't seem to be the "hardball" type and won't have a lot of leverage to work with.

- I also believe that Kane would be open to resigning in Chicago during the offseason. A 3-4 year contract would give him the opportunity to mentor Bedard and chase down Mikita's records.

- Assuming the Blackhawks win the NHL Draft lottery, they will select Connor Bedard with the first overall pick. With the Dallas/New York pick, they will select Gavin Brindley, a speedy forward from Michigan. With Tampa Bay's pick, they select Maxim Strbak, a right-shot defenseman out of the USHL.

- Aside from the Kane signing, the Hawks will remain relatively quiet during free agency. Bedard and Lukas Reichel will fill out the holes in the middle-6. Janmark returns to provide a veteran presence in the bottom-6. Borowiecki is signed for some veteran defensive depth and to protect some of the young players in the lineup. He is familiar with HC Luke Richardson from his time in the Sens system.

- I can't imagine many goaltenders jumping at the opportunity to play in front of this team. They may have to go the Arizona route and acquire a back-up off of waivers. Joseph Woll will be waiver eligible in 2023-24 and won't have a spot on the Leafs roster barring injury. He has enough upside to be a capable NHL back-up.

Woll is 5-0 this year on the Marlies with a 0.938 SV%. Leafs aren't waiving him. They've kept him through all the injuries because they want him on the leafs in a year or two.

Avs probably say no to JLF but would part with Ambrosio or Bowers
Edit: JJ coming back just feels right and will be cheaper than Schenn

What will they do with him next season? I can't imagine they non-tender Samsonov and they won't have the cap space to carry three goaltenders all season. Believe me, I know Woll is solid. I'm just not sure they will have another option. They will still have Kallgren, who is waiver exempt, as a third-goalie.

I would like to see Bowers get a shot in a bottom-6 role somewhere, but I don't think Chicago would be interested. Ambrosio is a more realistic target. And I agree, JJ makes a lot of sense for the Avs given his familiarity with the locker room.

Giroux set the standard for disappointing returns last season. No chance Kane gets less than giroux and this offer is definitely worse than what giroux got

I think we have different opinions on the Giroux return. Personally, I don't think Tippett had any significant trade value at the time of the deal. A 1st round pick in the current year's draft (particularly in a highly-regarded draft year) is worth more than a 1st round pick in 3 years. And the future 2nd > a future 3rd. I could definitely see an additional mid-round pick or prospect being added, but I was tying to make it as simple as possible.

              PS- great name

Point is the Leafs can only protect two goalies.....Will they be Samsonov and Murray? Just because they want him a Leafs in a year or two as you suggest, the Leafs don't have control over him, if they decide to put him on waivers. Hey I would love to see Woll NHL capable in 23.24 and Murray (for his cap) traded.

I guess it all depends on how Samsonov and Murray's years go and what Sammy decided at the end of the year.

Well Sammy is a RFA, the Leafs have control over him. He' could be lost to offer sheet.
