Why would we trade assets to get a guy that probably wont stay at the end of the year, + we are not going to make the playoffs

It wont last, the habs wont make the playoffs, the d-core is too young and I would rather not make the playoffs and get a good 1st pick than to make it and loose in the first round.

Everyone is a hopeful at this point. Habs are playing well though. The crop of 5 rookies plus Dach helps a whole bunch.

The only thing that would make sense is Monahan+mid picks/B-prospects for MTL, and maybe STL accepts that if they are still in the playoff picture. Would have to be a low-risk, high reward move for MTL.

They can also use it as an opportunity to dump Anderson or Dvorak perhaps instead of giving up Monahan, but they will probably need to give up more.

That is what you would prefer. I doubt any of MSL, Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Guhle, Harris, Kovacevic, Xhekaj... And they are the ones who can show us all if they are ready.

I wouldn't make the trade. The rebuild has just begun. I don't care if we make the playoffs or not. The plan should be the medium and long-term, not next spring.

Embrace the rebuild, bro.

OK but are you confident enough in your group to sacrifice a 1st round pick and a secondary tier prospect? I wouldnt be. Making the playoffs is a thing, making it far is another.

Yeah well my take is 100% accurate on this one, Montreal isn't making the playoffs. And they're closer to a bottom feeder than a playoff team.

They could be both buyers and sellers perhaps to mitigate the risk. If they are moving out guys with term successfully for current picks, they can perhaps move future picks for Tarasenko as a way to reward the group. If the Blues are interested and value any of Edmundson, Anderson, Hoffman (doubt it) or Dvorak for the guys with term or Monahan, Dadonov, Drouin from the rentals, then perhaps they could get away with giving up too much, maybe a mid pick+2nd tier prospect or a future 1st, etc...

It might be worth it if they are in the net positive for prime assets acquired, if they think they have a chance.

I tried out for Junior C against TJ Brodie, so yanno I'm basically a TSN insider.
