As a Hawks fan all those picks look good... the players are too many for the Hawks to fit so another team would have to be involved...

Leafs would be stupid to do this though... way too much future to give up for half a season

For ****s and giggles aside from the value of the trade and as far fetched as it is; as long as goaltending holds up, Toews as the 3C and Kane as the #1 RW next to Matthews could be a lights out top 9 with unreal possession numbers.

Even if Kane and Toews signed matching extensions at 3mx5, this team would have no future, and probably only get a couple of good runs of they are lucky. That defense isn't going to hold up most likely, one injury and they are playing an AHL player, goaltending would have to be absolutely lights out.

Most teams only truly have a few runs in them before their window closes but this is definitely way too much to give up for 1 shot at the cup.

Yeah, but the Leafs should have at least 5 years if they can retain their core and have young guys coming in to supplement them, with this they probably only have a 2-3 window even if Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Tavares, Kane, and Toews are all locked for the next 5 years+.

Well the Leafs definitely can't afford to extend both Toews and Kane let alone Kane anyway. An acquisition would be to make a full run for a year and end the 56 year old drought

If they kept Holl, then maybe they have a chance but Benn is a 7th D, and even Holl is probably paying above his paygrade. So what I was saying was even if Kane and Toews took a massive discount to stay in Toronto for the rest of their careers, the team probably never wins 1 cup, and probably only get 1 or 2 decent runs.

If the Leafs could plug in Kane, Toews and Murphy (no cap room), those 3 would be a huge upgrade for them to go for the cup this year. Murphy, IMO, is a big upgrade to Holl and would an outstanding partner with Reilly I believe.

I just don't see how they could possibly afford to pay mathews more money, then marner will want more, Nylander ain't taking any discounts. The window might be closing in the next 2 seasons

Tavares will need to take one for the team, I don't see the 3 taking more than 38m (e.g 11m+13m+14m). If Tavares then takes 2.5m, then it's the same 40.5m that they take now reallocated between the 4. If there’s a flat cap again though in the future then maybe it could cost them.

Add Domi,Murphy & Kurashev at that point if we’re going into fantasy land
