Pens are in a win now mode. It's not about the long-term value, it's about how they can improve the team for the next two, maybe three years. Down the road their long-term contracts will hurt them and they know it. It's a win-win situation.

Edmundson lost his father last year. Given how the team was performing I think he was given more time to recover from his back injury. As for the beginning of this season it was a simple face to face with Suzuki during a practice. Again, I think he was given more time to recover to that they can dress more players, with the hope to make a trade to unclog the logjam of wingers.

Gallagher had very good chances in the last few games and he's been unlucky. The scoresheet doesn't reflect his efforts. His character is what the Pens need.

Not really. The pens have plenty of character guys. Zucker, Blueger, Crosby, Carter, Dumoulin, and Rust
