I can't see why the Flames would want Hoffman and Drouin as they don't help the team at all. Lucic brings toughness and fire even if his skills are gone. I would decline as the Flames

Calgary says no thanks, that's not what we're looking for.

Josh Anderson is the player the Flames would be interested in.

I just can't figure out a deal to get Josh Anderson to the Flames that makes sense for both Calgary and Montreal.

Montreal isn't going to retain on Anderson not with 5 years left on his contract. Montreal probably isn't interested in taking Toffoli back. They probably aren't on Looch's 10 team trade list and I can't see him waiving for them either. I can't see Montreal wanting Tanev or Treliving even considering trading Tanev in the first place. Kylington isn't a big enough cap hit going the other way. Montreal might be interested in Pelletier but trading a prospect doesn't address the cap problem at all.

There has to be way with Looch or Toffoli going to a 3rd team but I can't figure a trade out that makes sense for all 3 teams without someone overpaying for something.

Yeah the fact the cap salary didn't grow over the last few year screw some team and that why there not alot of move done yet. Bettman have say that next year cap could grow upto 4m more that could free some space for team to do trade.

Hanifin had a poor playoffs and is off to a bad start this season... What would a swap around him look like? I'd like to get a D-Man back in the deal though. I doubt they part with Guhle, but what about Arber Xhekaj (who I recommended acquiring last season) or Logan Mailloux?

Otherwise yes, it involves moving some one elsewhere, but I don't see either Lucic or Toffoli (who's better than Josh Anderson) moving. Sutter's too stubborn and loyal

Lucic won't waive to go to MTL, but are Hoffman or Drouin really any more valuable than Lucic!? I don't think so, not unless they're 50% retained.

None of them are living up to their Cap Hits, but at least Lucic is performing the role expected of him and stays healthy and in the lineup

I think Montreal fans would riot if they moved Xhekaj now.

And no Toffoli is NOT better than Anderson.

Agree with you for Xhekaj there would be a riot if they move him right now the fans like him too much, Mailloux would be the one sacrificed there if need or an Leskinen / Norlinder.

But where I disagree with you is that Toffoli is better offensively then Anderson but is less physique them him.
The second use is physique to perform while the first use is skill and is dangerous Deke/shot combo.

I don't believe I've ever said Toffoli is better offensively. Mostly because I don't think he is though I don't usually come right out and say that since some other Flames fans (looking at you @KingofRNR) don't agree. Usually I just say Anderson is much faster and much more physical and leave it at that.

To be more specific I might say something like "Toffoli may be a little better offensively" but that's just being nice to those he think he is better offensively I don't believe it myself. Or I might say "Toffoli might score a few more goals", that actually might be the case but I wouldn't bet on it either way.

I do think Anderson would score 30+ goals if he was playing on either of Calgary's top two lines. I also think Anderson's speed and physical play would create a lot more room for his linemates leading to more assists (mostly secondary and rebound assists) for Anderson and significantly more points for his linemates than they'd get with Toffoli.

Finally I'm not sure which of the two is the better playmaker/passer or which is better at carrying and protecting the puck but I think it's probably Anderson for the latter and quite possibly for the former too. Toffoli certainly isn't very good at either and nobody has really tried to use Anderson as a playmaker yet.

I know you prefer Anderson, I just like to tease you, but I also suggest finding the next Josh Anderson since he’s over paid. He’s a 0.50PPG Guy

Toffoli’s scored 20 Goals last Season and is on pace for 30+ so far this season even when not able to click on line 1 with Huberdeau. Anderson didn’t score 20 last season and will be lucky if he scores that many this season

Find a right shot RW (or for that matter any forward) who gets more PPG while bringing similar speed, size, physicality and ability to fight while making less money and I'd agree. But that animal doesn't exist. Anderson would be a perfect fit, exactly what the top 6 needs. He can score, he's a very fast skater, will hit, battle for pucks, go to the net and protect his teammates.

I've probably said this before but Coleman or Dube would be a better fit with Huberdeau and Lindholm than Toffoli. Dube brings plenty of speed, good skills and though he's not exactly a big guy he has some snarl to his game too. Coleman is faster than Toffoli and a lot more physical, both of which will open up more time and space for his linemates. Either player will go to the net harder too.

Toffoli just sort of floats around not doing much waiting for the other team to lose track of him and then tries to sneak unnoticed into a good scoring position.

Luke Kunin " A highly intelligent and offensively gifted forward. Has a keen eye for scoring opportunities and has shown flashes of elite-level finishing capability. Works hard and isn't afraid to battle for puck possession. Good hands and puck skills, and has a really accurate release on his shot. Needs to work on his explosiveness, staying in motion with the play, and strength behind his shot. All-in-all, a gifted offensive force with the potential to blossom into a highlight reel player." Hitting: 18 Speed: 17: Agility: 17 Acceleration: 16

He's not a Fighter and there's probably no way he'll be made available now, but I really like Swede Fabian Zetterlund "He combines his speed with a very good motor, as he has a strong desire to retrieve pucks and forecheck"

Nathan Bastian, Julien Gauthier, Garnet Hathaway and Joel Armia are all intriguing as well. Left Shots Lawson Crouse, AJ Greer, Maxime Comtois and even Brandon Saad are all Cheaper & Better Option imo

Internally, I'd try Brett Ritchie or Adam Ruzicka up there, but Dube's the most deserving. The reason I don't say Coleman, is because I believe he's best played with Backlund, but would you separate them and give him a try at 1RW!?

I agree Toffoli's more of a PP Specialist and 3rd Line Player, so at this point, I'm willing to try anything/everything to find that fit for Huberdeau and Lndholm or Kadri on the 1st line, since I think we're a ways away yet from making a Trade to find a solution

LOL and you called me crazy!

Zetterlund would be good but I never though it was realistic to expect him to be made available. He'll probably be getting a pretty hefty raise on his next contract in the summer anyhow. Crouse would be ok too but I'd still rather have Anderson, a lot more speed, more physical and I'm pretty sure he'd score more too. Hathaway would be great for the bottom 6 but he's not a solution to replace Toffoli in the top 6 and while Comtois would be an interesting project (a nice add IOW) he's not a top 6 fix either, maybe eventually but not yet. Kunin another decent bottom 6 who might have more upside but I wouldn't count on it.

No argument with any of that other than the bit about Toffoli being a 3rd line player. I think he'd be close to useless on the 3rd line (similar to Monahan last year) but the idea is to replace him on the roster too, not just in the top 6. If we trade him and Kylington that opens about 7 million dollars this year, enough to pickup any rental (or 2 if they aren't *too high paid) we want.

Yeah, but I like Toffoli and not Gudbranson, remember lol

I think Toffoli would be better 5on5 and clean up and Net a lot of goals with Backlund & Coleman floating on the LW between the dot and the crease with Coleman chucking pucks out in front from behind the net

If we were to pick some of those guys up and they didn’t work in the Top-6, you’d agree they’re still Great Bottom-6 options to have, so again I’m just encouraging going younger & cheaper to find the next Josh Anderson and using $5mil+ in Cap Space to bring in a true 0.80-1.00PPG forward like Bo Horvat, Patrick Kane or Vladimir Tarasenko

If the value is down on Ivan Barbashev, I think he’s a good two way C/W who has proven he can get hot and light up the score sheet too

Yeah he might be ok with Backlund and Coleman but that'd be a lot of money (about 15 million) for the 3rd line.

Most of them would be good bottom 6 players and a few likely very good bottom 6 but aren't top 6 guys except maybe Crouse. A top 6 with some combination of more speed, grit and playmaking ability than Toffoli is what the team needs to get Huberdeau and Lindholm going again. We can't afford both Toffoli and an upgrade over him for the top 6. He doesn't have any trade protection either so he's the one to move.

Horvat, Kane and Tarasenko are all expensive rentals we wouldn't be able to resign for next year. Besides Toffoli is the obvious player to move out to make room for someone like that anyhow.

Except Horvat Kane and Tarasenko aren't going to resign anywhere for what Toffoli makes. They'll all ask for at least 7 mil AAV. Maybe a bit less for Kane if the term is excessive. Rumor is Horvat thinks he's a first line center too so he probably wouldn't be very keen on signing with a team that already has Lindholm and Kadri. He probably wants a contract similar to the one Miller just got.

Kane would probably prefer to go play to new York ranger to be with Panarin again. I could see him accepting a lesser contract to be with a good competitive team of is choice.

Sure but not too much lesser... Maybe 6.5 mil for 3 or 4 years.
