Nah man... That trade would be Edmonson with 50% retention, Evans for Barrie, Samorukov, 2023 and 2024 2nd Round Picks

Are you trying to trade a player that was recently traded?

Just curious, as a Habs fan why do you decline? And what would you propose instead?

Not that I wouldn't want Broberg but that's another LHLD on a team that has a plethora of young talent for that position so it's not a need.

Barrie is a defensive liability and is widely acknowledged as essentially have 0 to negative value.

A healthy Edmundson is a quality player to have on the backend and most Habs fans love Evans (myself included)

The retention on top further separates these two sides in value. It's not that this trade is horrendous but it's lopsided imo. Barrie is likely going to cost a pick to move for starters and then a retained, healthy Edmundson + fan favourite and cost controlled Evans is going to cost more than just Broberg (if Hughes would even be interested in adding yet another LHLD prospect)

Those are very good points. I didn't know if I was overvaluing Broberg or not in that trade proposal.

As for having too many talented young LHD I'll just say that it's a very nice problem to have.

Might be slightly over-valuing him but nothing crazy, splitting hairs at this point.

RHRD prospects, Goalie prospects & '23/'24 draft picks are essentially what MTL needs at this point so I can't see them making any moves without at least 1 of those 3 options included in the swap regardless of who they're sending out.

Totally agree with you. My point is you can use a young LHD as a chip to trade for a RHD or goalie prospect afterwards.

You're right, we could. Or we could use Edmundson/Evans (since you proposed them here) to move for a RHD or Goalie prospect without creating more work for ourselves without additional compensation.

I'm on board with your idea, as long as we're getting additional compensation for the additional work we're going to have to do to get pieces we need.

I do know that they don't need an injured LHD and a 4rh line center. And I do know they aren't giving up good pieces for those things.

Again, I would suggest that you do a bit of research and to stop thinking that you're in a rebuilding mode.

I did my research - Edmundson is injured. He was placed on IR October 10 and hasn't played a single game in the 22-23 season to date.

Evan's isn't going to play ahead of McDavid, Draisaitl or McLeod, so he'd be a 4C. Edmonton isn't paying good players for an injured defender and a 4C.

Thanks for checking though.
