I'm curious with slightly less than $12,000,000 to sign 6 players, How you think that Montreal is in position to be offer sheeting anyone. And it doesn't take the NYR to offer sheet Cole Caufield. There's tons of other teams that can offer sheet him. And there would be no way Montreal could ever match.

Players who want to play for MTL won't sign offer sheets from other teams. The others can respectfully **** off...

Saros is a top goalie, no team would trade him until the prospect shows that he could be elite too. Askarov is still a big question mark.

Getting Saros now or in the near future would be very expensive.

do you know if askarov is still on track to be a great goalie? All i know about him is what was said about him at the draft

Rangers would probably match that. Probably not how they *want* to be spending it, but if the cap jumps to $86.5M this summer they'll have just over $21M in cap space. Their RFAs are Zac Jones, Libor Hajek, K'Andre Miller, Vitali Kravstov, & Filip Chytil. Chytil & Miller are most likely the only ones getting $2.5M+ on their extensions, and then beyond that all you need to do is get a new backup for Igor and a couple bottom-6 guys (Blais, Reaves, Ryan Carpenter, & Jimmy Vesey are UFA this summer). Not that hard to make happen.

Also, if Caufield's agent is any good, he'd be looking at a bridge deal unless he could get more than this right away
