Description
possible roster tonight. Megna, Blidh, and Kaut all recalled. MacDonald activated and prob scratched. Landy missing 12 wks, prob on LTIR. Getting extra help for Newhook, promoting LOC or whoever to ride shotgun on Line1. Avs do have some extra cap space for a while and could make a move if needed... update: Megna 4C per Bednar. I put Mikko at 2C

I dont know why he was put on waivers, he looked okay to me. He has no offense but defensively he barely gave up anything

He played for Torts. I wonder if this was some handshake agreement between GMs to send him to a familiar place...

Maybe but he also played for Bednar for 3 years in the AHL. I wouldve kept him as a defensive specialist especially since the Avs are short on Cs right now

96 can C and I bet 11 can too. Avs will be OK. I mean, Sedlak didnt exactly impress...

They could put them at C but theyre better on the wing in their natural positions imo. Im sure they will figure something out anyway but I think they gave up on Sedlak way too early. They are currently using Megna lol I dont see how he is better than Sedlak in that role

I thought he looked pretty brutal out there. When MacDermid is outshining you on your line, it’s not good.

It’s pretty obvious that PHI claiming Sedlak is retaliation for COL claiming Aube Kubel from them last season no?

Avs are far far removed from being short on Cs when you consider they probably have 3 NHL 4th line C calibre players in Meyers, Maltsev and Bowers in the AHL right now

Hes not a flashy player or anything, hes just there to limit scoring chances and thats what he did. MacDermid is very noticeable because of his size and big hits but Sedlak is just a low event player (which isnt a bad thing imo). If you watch Aston-Reese hes kind of the same where you dont really notice him (aside from hits) cause he limits scoring chances at both ends of the ice

At 5v5 Sedlak had 0 goals against and had the 2nd best xGA/60 rate on the team behind LOC - those are pretty much in line with the kind of numbers you would expect out of a player like him

I dont know if they are NHL quality though. Id put Sedlak above all of them on the depth chart tbh

I think it also says something about Maltsev and Bowers than Bednar chose to recall Blidh and Megna over them

Meyers>Maltsev>Sedlak>Bowers is how I’ve got them.

No it doesn’t say much at all actually. Team is throwing stuff in a blender to see what sticks right now. Now is the time to experiment with the roster.

Maltsev didnt make the team out of camp and wasnt one of the first 3 forward callups (4 if you include MacDonald as an F), with injuries at forward and the blender coming out wouldnt now be the perfect time for him to get a callup if he really was that high up on the depth chart?

My guy, this is all speculation. You are over analyzing who got called up in what sequence as if that matters or dictates you the franchise likes more. You have to factor in some players are waiver exempt and some aren’t (meaning teams need to be strategy when you make transactions). Take Toronto as an example. They obviously value Robertson more than some of the guys who made the roster but he becomes the defacto AHL send down because he doesn’t have to clear waivers while other less valuable (but needed) players do.

You’ve clearly got a hard on for Sedlak so I’ll leave ya to it.

I dont really get the Robertson comparison since Maltsev is waiver eligible and went through waivers before being assigned to the AHL, its not like he was only sent down to avoid putting others on waivers like Robertson was. Plus the Avs just called up a bunch of guys who also are waiver eligible but Maltsev wasnt one of them

Im not trying to be hostile or anything, its just a minor disagreement on the order of depth players so idk why you have to bring up that last part. Its not that serious
