It will cost a 1st+ for Severson at the deadline getting him this early and dumping Holl will cost a fair bit more than that. Replace Gaudette with Heinola and maybe talks could start there

You say that like Murphy would be cheaper lol. Also Niemela is probably at least 2 years from making his first NHL appearance as an injury call up. He does not fit Toronto's timeline at all

No reason for the Devils to do this - all you're really giving them is a late 1st for Damon Severson. Holl is cap filler and walks at the end of the year, and Gaudette is a 13th forward at best. Gotta throw in a decent prospect if you want them to make the move.

Honestly don't know if the Devils and Leafs would line up on a deal because their needs are too similar. I could see the Devils looking for a goalie prospect or possibly an LHD prospect, which Toronto really has none of. That's part of the problem here, too - if you're going to say that the top of Toronto's prospect pool (Niemela/Knies) is off-limits, well, then there's not a lot of really attractive pieces left for teams to look at. That's why I think it's more likely that the Devils look elsewhere in moving Severson.

We need:
1. Goaltending (probably not an area Toronto can help us with)
2. A big-body-soft-hands forward who can play in front of net, preferably someone who would be good enough for Power Play
3. A mobile defensive d-man

Two guys that NJD may be interested in: Knies, Liljegren.

I don't think trade would have to include pick if players were right.

But Devils have goalie prospects

They just have lousy goaltending at NHL level.

I should have added the caveat that Toronto probably has no goalie prospects *that they should be moving*, considering their goalie situation is maybe a half-step above the Devils' right now.

Leafs aren't in dire circumstances if Muzzin is out for the season and can play the market cautiously. Murphy or Larsson might be cheaper.

The offer would probably need a propsect going back but you're insane if you think you're getting Niemela or Knies.
