I see very few similarities, to be honest. Severson is not really an offensive-minded dman. He is regularly among the top in defensive WAR, dzone denials, dzone exits. He plays on top PK unit and is 5v5 minutes eater. More similar to Weegar or a lesser Heiskanen.

This seems like a lot for such a marginal upgrade, we're essentially giving up a 1st, 2-3rds, 6th Barrie and Lavoie for a dman that is pretty comparable to Barrie (though I agree, Sever adds that defensive aspect). Barrie's 5 on 5 is very limited and is still running our PP Point, I dont think Holland wants to move him at all... or at least isnt showing anything to reflect that.

Honestly I think that arizona maybe asks that 6th to be upgraded. The Sean Monahan trade said 1 first is equal to 6 mill so idk if a third and a 6th cover Barrie. I think arizona will really weaponize the fact they are like one of the 2 teams with cap willing to take on bad contracts.

That's asinine - Barrie is a positive asset, Monahan was not. Barrie will not be trade with picks like this - if a mid-1st isn't coming Edmonton's way, they aren't moving him.

I agree with most of this, but how is Barrie's 5v5 "very limited"? What does that even mean?

He's not for sale. If you want him you're going to have to come up with an offer that makes it worthwhile for Edmonton to consider.

They have lowered his TOI at 5 on 5 by about 2-3 Mins a game vs last season, even with his PP time being the most on our team by any dman he is still the bottom of TOI/Game of any of our RHD.

Since Woodcroft took over Feb 10, Barrie played 30 seconds less than Bouchard at 5v5 through the final 38 games. It should be noted that he had the 2nd best on-ice goal results among all defensemen though, so he was very effective. He carried that effectiveness through into the playoffs, achieving team-leading goal numbers in the postseason. They seem to be handling him just fine.

I more so mean his TOI has dropped, I believe last season was the first time since his rookie season he averaged less than 20 Mins a game (to speak to the "very limited").
