Sabres haven't played the cap dump for draft pick game. Doubt they do it for three years of Faska.

They won't have to trade anyone, Khubodin will go to LTIR the second Robertson is signed, mark my words. They're just holding off to maximize LTIR savings

Doesn't Khudobin play pre-season games? It is unlikely that they will be able to put a healthy player in LTIR, perhaps they will simply trade him.

Khudobin played the entire game last night, but no we can just LTIR healthy people now because were terrible at cap management and LTIR is a bailout system not Long term injury

He won't be "healthy", something will be tweaked and a specialist will say he needs to be shut down... we've all seen this movie enough, how are people still surprised it happens?

The Sabres should make this trade.
First, the Sabres had the worse FO% of all NHL teams by a wide margin (there was a bigger difference between 32nd Sabres and 31st Devils than the Devils and 26th Krakens, Faksa won 55.5% of his FO over the past two years.
Second, the Sabres PK ranked 26th last year with a 76.4% success rate. Faksa was one of the Stars top PK forwards.
Third, Faksa is over paid by about $1,000,000 the second is a fair sweetener for that cap hit, but maybe Karmanos could squeeze another pick our of the Stars.
Fourth, I am actually happy that this was not a Robertson trade.

It would be nice if the NHL did something about it, because it all looks like a scam.

I'll never blame a GM for exploiting loopholes where they exist. It's what every team wants their GM to do to ice the best team possible.

I personally think the real problem is the hard cap, as it basically leads to the LTIR issue and to teams like Arizona being every other NHL club's AAAA club. Ideally, they'd go with a soft cap and implement a significant luxury tax, where the tax goes into a weighted profit sharing program (one that requires that all funds generated from this program MUST go back into the club and be documented, or they are forfeited and returned to the pool) based on reported revenue from the previous season of each club. Then, you simply do away with LTIR and a team pays a tax for any player that is on IR, that takes them over the cap and IR just frees up a roster spot for the 23 man roster. This allows big market teams to be as reckless as they want from a budgetary angle, while improving small market teams, by giving them a larger revenue pool to work from.

They’re showing him in preseason as much as possible. Dobby doesn’t seem like the “I’m healthy but I’ll retire to help out the team type”

I actually didn’t pick Buffalo cuz of all the crappy JRob trades. I picked them because I could actually see them having a need for Faksa like you said

I think ideally they'd like to trade him, but I highly doubt they'll get any takers unless another team suffers an injury. If they can't move him, something will be "tweaked" and they'll shut him down and LTIR him.

As for not being a "help the team" guy, I've never gotten that impression of him at all. Especially if the risk of being waived and sent to the AHL comes up. I think at 36, coming off some hip issues, he'd be all too happy to stay home and collect a check, as opposed to traveling on buses and playing in the A

Didn’t mean he wasn’t a team guy. Just see him as a very competitive person that would want to play if able
