It's a decent trade. Valimaki is a solid defencemen, he has just been burried in Calgary's defensive depth. Ruzicka will be a top 9 for sure, possibly top 6 if he gets the chance to play. I think it addresses a need for both teams

Välimäki would be a pricey 7th d, Include Hájek in the deal and get back a younger RHD to shore up NYR depth, someone like Boltmann (i know very little about him). Neither Flame is waiver exempt so it will further tighten a packed roster, of course, dependent on moving Reaves given the cap space and questionable whether Drury is ready to do that. If our depth is replaced then it might work.
