Signing a 34 year old winger to a 4 year deal at over 9 million AAV is just a bad idea all around.

Players typically start to regress around 34 or 35 years old. Expecting the same level of play from him at 36, 37, or 38 years old is setting yourself up for disappointment.

I said nothing about not signing Kane, but at over 9 million per that's just throwing more money than is needed for a player when you have to account for re-signing nearly every player on the roster within that 4 years. Take a look at the deal Giroux just signed, or Malkin, or Letang. Kane likely signs for 6.5 - 7.5 per not 9+.

1. I’m sort of on the fence here. I’d be willing to offer him 4 years but at 6 mil or I’d give 1x9mil next year and then adjust accordingly based on our salary space.

If the hawks get Bedard, I can see Kane coming back to Chicago to finish his career a blackhawk. I don't think he's going to be easy to extend for other teams.
