Kane as a rental makes the Oilers a favourite but adding Chychrun as well makes them a contender for a few more years. I'm a Broberg fan but the window is shrinking for the Draisaitl and McDavid years and the time to win is now. Trading a 3rd with Barrie is a necessary evil to move his salary but getting a decent RD prospect back in Chase Priskie softens the blow.
This roster is built to compete with the contenders. Additional moves may be necessary in 2023 to resign Bouchard, Skinner and few bottom six forwards but with just over $12M in cap space in 2023 that shouldn't be a huge deal, unless P.Kane wants to resign ;)
I think Desharnais is going to surprise a lot of people. The 6'7" RHD patterns his game after his childhood idol Chara. He needs to get stronger but he could be a poor man's Chara eventually.
I hate to buy out Derek Ryan but Gagner comes in cheaper and has a better two way game.

Why would Edmonton go All In this season? There is no logical reason for doing so.

Also, the buyout window is closed, but it's pretty funny that you think Gagner has a better 2-way game than Ryan.

I don't really think this is going all in...cupboards are full, just loading up on high end talent this year for draft picks that we can regain.

I like it all except the RD #3 which is where Foegele unfortunately comes in to play

Possibly but also a good trade deadline piece for Buffalo to move for a pick/prospect

Or they keep their prospect and not have to worry about the uncertainty of the trade deadline? Confused as to why you think Buffalo makes this move

So they move a good prospect for a possibility of moving fir a different one? Pass.

Broberg is an "A" prospect but a deal would probably require the 2nd rounder to be conditional that becomes a first if they make the final four, etc.

Holland already reportedly refused to include Broberg in any Chychrun discussions.

Why would the Oilers not go all-in? Logical reason? McDavid and Draisaitl just went god-mode in the playoffs and proved they can make it to the conference finals. This team is a few solid pieces from winning a cup. Do you want McDavid and Draisaitl to walk in free-agency in a couple of years?

That's exactly it. If you sell the future for one run this year, the likelihood of them leaving in 3 years goes up. It's pretty simple.

I wouldn't categorize going all-in as a one-year event. Colorado has consistently gone all-in these past few seasons; Tampa much the same. It doesn't necessarily mean trading away every asset for one stab at the cup. The Oilers should be trading picks and prospects over these coming seasons to give themselves the best chance at winning the cup every season.
