Realistic Kane fit for the cap

Description
Not sure on the assets having to go but trying to fit the cap. Can’t see nylander or muzzin moving.
Kerfoot would go in this deal, I know people will say no cap dumps but if Chicago holds kerfoot until the deadline and then retains they will get a nice return for a versatile player.

Would have to pay for double retention if the deal is made before season. Probably an easier move to fit in at the deadline

Muzzin isn’t going to waive to go there and can’t see nylander being in this trade, doesn’t make any sense considering age and contracts.

I’m not a fan of moving multiple first round picks. But I would probably trade two firsts to get Kane if Chicago took Muzzin back. I wouldn’t want to move any high profile prospects tho.

I think if you can hold onto knies and niemila is can be worth it. As much as I wouldn’t want to trade sandin, he doesn’t have a contract and not sure how that’s going to play out. For this year alone not having sandin and Robertson doesn’t really change much. It hurts for the future. If Kane is willing to waive for Toronto maybe he will resign to a deal like Malkin? Kane should be able to produce for more years with Matthews and you could trade nylander next summer before losing him to free agency.

Most likely all a pipe dream but just thoughts in my head lol

Robertson and Knies are not high profile prospects. They are good, don't get me wrong, but neither are A/A+ prospects. To qualify what I mean, Robertson barely made wheeler's top 50 list published recently and Knies didn't make it.

That said, a 1st is a must and a prospect like Sandin, Knies or Robertson but those prospects aren't strong enough on their own is my guess. Addl a dump like Kerfoot and either another 1st, or another Sandin, Knies or Robertson. All dependent on how many teams Kane is willing to waive for. If suspected it is 3 or 4, this is likely close to the price.

I’m a big fan of Knies tbh. Robertson’s value to Toronto is that he’s cheap and can probably play in a middle six role next year. Also Kerfoot isn’t really a dump. You will be able to get value for him at the deadline.

I guess Kane is the flavor of the week. He is a great player but isn't the guy the leafs need. THE LEAFS NEED A POWER FORWARD FOR THE TOP 6.

I can understand, but also see why some analysts are saying Knies is not more then a complimentary top 6 or middle 6 piece; the latest juniors tournament is an example of how he sometimes doesn't show up.

I thought he looked good for most of the tournament tbh. Half the time a prospect gets ripped it’s cause they didn’t put up any points, but that’s gonna happen to pretty much all these guys at some point anyway.

A top prospect is going to be ripped for not putting up points in a juniors tournament and rightfully so to be honest. The competition isn't all NHL bound players so the ones that are should demonstrate they are head and shoulders above.

Doesn’t mean he wasn’t making plays on the ice. Also I thought team USA’s coaching and roster selection process were pretty abysmal tbh. Redmond Savage shouldn’t have been brought back after his terrible performance in December. And the kid from Providence didn’t deserve to be there more than Nazar or Howard either tbh.

He still reminds me a lot of Anders Lee only I think he plays a more complete game. Even when he didn’t get on the score sheet I was impressed by him.
