Oilers going for Kane

Créé par: JackAce91
Équipe: 2022-23 Oilers d'Edmonton
Date de création initiale: 20 août 2022
Publié: 20 août 2022
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Do I think Kane would waive for Edmonton? Probably not. But I could see him potentially waiving for anywhere if he is seriously unhappy in Chicago, which I think is likely. So at least Edmonton is a serious contender.

Stop with this stuff. For one year of Kane to give all that up. Bad asset management

Lmaoooo. Aside from the fact that NYI has zero use for barrie youve obviously been living in a cave for the last few months. Barries going to take significant assets to move. Nobodys helping you out of your cap troubles for free.

Getting rid of Holloway for one year of Kane makes no sense.

Depends if it means a cup. Kane is arguably the best right winger in the game and if the team at the TDL looks that strong without Kane, adding Kane means a really good chance for a cup. That said, I don't see it being the case, but a late 1st and a prospect like Holloway is about what it would likely take per reports out of Chicago.

As a Chicago fan it makes sense. For the Oilers it doesn’t. We have multiple years of McDavid and will want to keep him and Draisaitl when their contracts end in 3/4 years and if we throw away our futures for a single possible win on a position that isn’t our biggest question mark makes it less likely we manage to keep both of them later.

Hawks fan, Barrie ain't great but he's a decent offensive defenseman. I'd think he's somewhere between a 3rd and 4th. As for the Islanders, if you read my note on that, it doesn't matter where he goes. Not at all familar with the Islanders other than them being a defensive team which may not be all that interested in staying a defensive team with the Trotz firing and they overpays vets. So Barrie is a vet who can play offensively well.

A first, a player they were actively trying to get rid of, a middling prospect, and a good prospect for a top 5 right winger in the game who would pair insanely well with McDavid? I wouldn't call that an overpay. Do I think the Oilers should go for it from a Hawks fans perspective, probably not. But if that's their plan, then this is what I think it would take. Especially with retention.

He may be a decent offensive dman but that doesnt change the fact that rn cap space is worth an all time high. Nobody is taking on barrie for free let alone paying for him. Teams unless they wanna pay a very costly price are going to be stuck with the contracts that they have.

The revenue a team makes as a result of winning the cup is enormous and the owners are generally in it to make money that is why it's not uncommon for a team to go all-in for a cup run. Fans usually don't like it when a team gives up a lot of futures for a run, Hawks did multiple times but in the end it worked out. Tampa has done it as well. At the end of the day, Holloway is a good prospect but he's not a elite prospect, meaning the teams success in the future isn't predicated on him. In other words, if given the option A) win a cup and lose Holloway in the process or B) don't win a cup but keep Holloway for the future, about every owner will go with option A.

It has been edited since my comment to be a lot more reasonable. I don’t remember exactly what it was but it definitely was more than this.
