The retention is worth the second, because it's not a 2023 draft pick.

That leaves A prospect Topi Niemela and one year of Alex Kerfoot for J. T. Miller.

It's hard to imagine how that "gets it done." Especially since Vancouver would have to replace Schenn, presumably with a similar cap hit, so that this trade actually INCREASES the Canucks' cap burden while giving them an inferior player.

Crazy how you lowball Vancouver for Miller and then ship him off with a first round pick to acquire a far worse player. I can’t see how any thought went into this
