Avs help the Isles get Kadri

Description
The Beauvillier trade is based on the Bjorkstrand return for Columbus. Since the picks here aren't in 2023 here and also probably won't be as high, this is clearly a worse return for the Isles. However, Bjorkstrand has proven to be the better player so far in their respective careers. Thus, I feel like it's in the neighborhood under current market conditions.

I added Kaut for Salo in the trade as well. I think this helps both teams, as Salo fills a need in the Avs prospect pool and Kaut can provide an affordable option for the Isles going forward as their forwards age and begin to roll off (starting with Bailey). I also think Kaut would fit in well with the Isles and not so much in Colorado.

Tbh, I hate the Kadri signing for the Isles. They double down on aging forwards, and I'm still not even sure they're a Cup contender. However, it sure looks like it may happen, so I'm running with it.

For Colorado, I don't like it as much as if they were to sign Kadri, but they get a couple players that could fit their team and system at an affordable price.

It was more that Aho is not exempt and would potentially get claimed if not on the roster. That and cap crunch. But yeah, we can leave the Salo/Kaut part out.

I will say that Kaut is an NHL regular if given the shot. His game is perfect for the Isles.

I think the real issue with Bjorkstrand is that if we use him as a comparison he has no value. Like I’ll mention his name in a trade involving Kerfoot for a 2nd but that’s more about the fact I don’t think Kerfoot is worth a second anyway.

I don’t think Lou is willing to sell Beau or Bailey for pennies on the dollar. I think we have to think about the fact that this trade could already be agreed upon. We also have to think about the fact both guys names were discussed at the deadline so maybe there is established interest which will impact discussions.

Kaut is going to be 23 in October and he's never been PPG in the AHL. He'll fit the isles in terms of being another forward prospect who can't be a full time player.

Big Dal Colle vibes imo. I think he should be in the league but for whatever reason he isn’t rn. I can see the same **** happening with Kuat.

I don’t view Kuat as much more than a throw in rn. It’s not about the player as much as it is about the fact I haven’t seen him play recently. When you are dealing with a guy who hasn’t played much entering the last year of his ELC you have to understand that his value isn’t high. Kuat hasn’t even been exceptional at the AHL level.

Kaut is mostly a throw in, but you gotta account for how Colorado ran it's AHL affiliate. They really don't give their prospects pp1 time, which affects things a lot.

Kaut was one of their best players. He kills penalties, fights, etc. He's better than the raw numbers indicate. He's not a fit for the Avs fast transition style though.

I never thought Salo was a throw in. He has value. Under the circumstance where everyone knows Lou is clearing cap for Kadri, I have to think the situation is similar to Bjorkstrand. I tried to adjust accordingly based on a few factors, but obviously it didn't work. The trade was designed to be a steal for Colorado. I may have gone too far though.

You are fine dude. I think the real issue here is that even tho Lou sucks at his job. There r clearly GM’s even dumber than he is!!!

I do wonder if the Bjorkstrand was shopped around the league or if Columbus just called Seattle and that’s it. Even with their cap situation I got to think someone like Anaheim would’ve been willing to move a second for him. If they weren’t then I would be stunned.

Btw this is what Strickland just tweeted about the isles. Seriously I think if bailey and beau r being moved then it might already be done. Maybe Lou makes another big swing idk. Because if he was in on Tkachuk AND Kadri then Bailey, Beau and Varly r all out.

Maybe they would have just been heading to Calgary in such an instance.

Some really dumb GMs out there, Jarmo included, there had to have been better options than giving Bjorkstrand away for pretty much nothing.

How many trades have to go down in the NHL for people to understand theres no such thing as precedents.

Every team has their own needs and wants and are in different phases of contention/rebuilding/retooling etc.

Bjorkstrand trade is completely and utterly irrelevant.
