Playoff Robertson worries me, he disappeared, I think he will live up to any contract under 8.25, anything above that is a huge gamble considering they have to find $ to sign Roope Hintz. Benn and Seguin contracts really hurt Dallas in terms of free money to give away. Maybe they go short term with robo and then pay him when Benn's contract comes off the books three years from now.
This is not a team I want to be a GM of right now. Way too many bad contracts.
On your Gurianov trade, maybe he is but to me I would dump him for a cheeseburger. He is a one dimensional player that panics under pressure and I don't see Dallas extending him past this year so anything is better than nothing.
- Take 2 years and $1M off of Oettinger's contract
- If Robertson is getting a 7-year deal, you might as well give him an 8-year contract and he should see $8M per AAV for that kind of contract
- This is ABSOLUTELY a team you should want to be a GM of. Sure, there are a couple of bad contracts, but most teams have a bad contract or two they would love to get rid of. But the Stars have a young core of Robertson, Hintz, Oettinger, and Heiskanen along with 3 high end prospects in Johnston, Stankoven and Bourque. Add in to that the fact that they have all but 2 of their draft picks for the next 3 years, and this team is in a great position for whatever GM comes in after Nill is gone
- You should definitely not be trying to dump Gurianov. Kid has been in the most offensive-suffocating systems since he came into the league. Montgomery's system was a
little more conducive to his play style and it resulted in his best year. You can't judge a purely offensive player by how he played in Bowness' system. At 25 years old, he finally gets a coach that will take the reigns off a little bit. He's primed for a breakout season & you're valuing him like he's Luke Glendening or Joel Kiviranta. HARD pass on that Gurianov trade
