I wouldn’t trade two firsts for Chychrun. And I def wouldn’t trade one of them for 600 K retention.

Getting a guy that immediately becomes your #1 Defenseman for 3 years in his prime on an absolute steal of a contract?
ya no way that guy is worth anything... /S

Never said he wasn’t good but I seriously question if he’s worth two firsts. I’m not even sure he’s a true #1 d man.

My only interest in him at this price would be if ur dumping substantial salary in the deal. I’m talking like 7-10 million dollars in cap dumps. STL doesn’t have that much salary to dump. Maybe someone like Ottawa overpays to get rid of Zaitsev + Hamonic idk.

He’s the most significantly overrated defenseman of the past decade. And all cause he had a lot of points during a 56 game season.

Funny thing is, I think his defensive game is by far his strongest attribute. Goal scoring defenseman give me the creeps. Like did we not just see OEL score 20 goals in the desert a few seasons ago?

I mean Nurse got a 9.5 million dollar deal cause he scored a lot with McDavid. Dude isn’t worth more than Parayko in my opinion. It was a horrendous deal.

It actually depends for me. Like Makar doesn’t concern me with his goal scoring ability.

Adam Boqvist in Columbus and Noah Dobson in NY both score at a decent clip. I think it matters because it can show you how much a defenseman can create on their own. But in Chychrun’s the sample size is way too small and happened during what I think was a 6 team schedule for everyone in the pacific.

I mean I'm not sure what yall have against chychrun. I mean he was drafted 2 spots behind McAvoy.
He's played on a crap team his whole career and been expected to be the #1 D. Plus he's just tired of losing.
Remember what happen with O'Reilly?

I'm not saying he's going to be a top 5 D-man in the league, but there is a lot of untapped potential just from being in the lousy desert.
He proved he was a good player with no help.
Give him Parayko and a good team and see what happens.

BTW Faulk was a goal scoring D-man, nothing wrong with em

I like Chychrun. But the asking price for him is ****ing insane. He hasn’t proven he’s a #1 defenseman either.

Yes this is my thoughts too. I also think he doesn’t really fit the way the Blues attack. Strong sturdy guy who can play on a top-pair, but not a guy you sell the farm for.

Also it seems like they r going to be very committed to a Leddy-Parayko pair over the next few years anyway.

Nick Leddy has the worst metrics I’ve ever seen but he seems like he wins everywhere he goes except Detroit lol.
Honestly his metrics sucked when he was an islander and we all saw what NY looked like without him. I think the analytics community is at least partially wrong about him.

Idk my understanding of most analytics models is they value goal scoring over playmaking cause it’s easier to track. And then you have to rely on people to track stuff like zone entries/exits.

Every decision made on the ice is impacted by ur coach and the other four guys out there. It seems impossible to isolate a players impact from that.

Leddy sucked since 2017 according to a lot of models. Won a lot of playoff series in that time. He passes the eye test unlike someone who actually sucks on a winning team like Uncle Leo.

Yeah I mean it’s definitely tough to 100% isolate a player, but there’s some models that are pretty close. Telling thing about leddy is he’s had sustained bad results across multiple years and multiple teams

He gets killed in terms of shots for and against, but trotz and the isles gave up a lot of poor quality shots. Leddy would basically start in his own zone, carry it out on his own, and then wait for a forward to turn it over and be stuck on the ice when the opposing team got another shot off.

Detroit would be bad no matter what he did. With Leddy you knew what he could do in big minutes and I prefer Leddy to a guy like Chiarot who just waits to get bailed out by his teammates lol.

His puck carrying ability is such eyewash. Wish he would just pass it and get back… especially with how creative off the rush the Blues forwards are.

I remember when he did that against Colorado and they kept turning it over for three minutes lol.
