Sorry, but GMs tend to value big and reliable top 4 defencemen a lot more than they value little 2nd line wingers, plus Dillon is great value at over a million less AAV than Garland.
Again, little winger Bjorkstrand scored 28 goals and added 29 assists last season and he was traded for 3rd and 4th round picks.
It doesn't matter how desperate or not desperate the Canucks are, the market has been established for Garland type players with the Bjorkstrand trade.
The Canucks don't have to like it and they certainly don't have to trade him if they don't like the return, but I think you're likely overvaluing Garland a little verus how NHL GMs would perceive his value (again, see Bjorkstrand for the value established by NHL GMs for that sort of player).
