Tkachuk trade isn't super analogous to the JT Miller situation. Tkachuk had RFA rights and wanted out, so the Flames got back two veterans on expiring deals as the centerpiece of the deal. I also don't think it's any sort of stretch to say that Matt Tkachuk at 24 and coming off a 42 goal/104 point season, with RFA rights intact, is much more valuable than JT Miller at 29, coming off a 32 goal/99 point season and on an expiring deal.

It’s very difficult to find 6-4 righty d men who have legit two way ability and can play top pair. It’s not surprising isles fans are so attached to him lol.

They’ll basically become a worse version of the Winnipeg Jets. Every contender/playoff team has a top pair point producing defenseman who plays in all situations. The isles already lack puck movers and Dobson is by far the best one the team. It’s hard to score goals if you can’t move the puck up the ice.

Also Miller will not be playing with the same quality of teammates on NYI so at best he’ll be a 65-70 player. He was on a PP with Hughes, pettersson, horvat, and Boeser. Some of the best PP threats in the league
