Kerfoot isn’t getting a 2nd in this market. You would be lucky to get future considerations

Nobody wants Toronto's cap dumps, this is reiterated by every fan base everytime. No one is buying high on Kerfoot and Buffalo specifically has no need. All this does is block prospects and the Sabres lose a good asset. It has not made sense once

Not necessarily true, the market changes and each team has different needs and motivations, can't draw comparison between cap dumps, but yes, Buffalo has a lot of young talent, so that they can play so they wouldn't take him except for that or a late pick or something insignificant.

Dubas might be able to get something of value out of him later in the off-season. He's only getting paid 750k in salary, so that will be attractive to a team that needs a player like him if they can fit his cap.

That's not evidence for no team giving up assets for him though, the problem is that most ACGMs are trading him to teams that don't need him as you pointed out. Just look at the Mrazek dump (many were saying it would take at least a first and while a first was traded they got back a high second), DeBrincat trade (the reported asking price was high so it was unexpected), and Detroit's offseason (a lot of Detroit fans thought they were going to sit back and take cap dumps for players, and that they wouldn't add older players, even though Yzerman did say he plans to be active in free agency to make a push) which fanbases were wrong about.

Kerfoot can go for a 2nd round pick to a team that needs him or get traded for future considerations or a C-level prospect or something. Neither should be surprising.

There's a difference between a cap dump and trading a decent player because the team can't afford to keep everyone

Theres also a difference between having cap space and needing players. The Sabres arent a dumping ground

I'm not considering the Sabres to become a dumping ground since they have good players coming up. I'm just saying that by no means is Kerfoot some sort of cap liability

I’m going to direct everyone’s attention to the fact Oliver Bjorkstrand, a player several orders of magnitude better than Kerfoot, was just traded for a third and a fourth. And that’s the best deal his cap-strapped team could find. Kerfoot isn’t getting a second in any layer of reality this off-season. There’s like four teams left with space. You’re going to have to pay them handsomely or just keep him.

I don't think Kerfoot could fetch a 2nd by any means simply based on the fact that Dubas has no leverage if they were to trade him. Personally, though I'd love if Alex Kerfoot is wearing the Blue & White next season.
