Never said that. I said this trade proposal is incredibly unfair and wouldn’t be accepted by the best GM in the NHL.

You implied it when you said "that literally means nothing. Jake Evans is worse than JT Compher. That’s just a fact. Joel Edmunson is older and worse than Girard. That’s just a fact."

Since when is every trade that is made equal value 1 to 1? In todays nhl, cap space is about just as valuable as a #4 Dman. If you haven't realized that by now, god help whatever team you'd be the GM of.

Dude. There is a difference between finding cap relief and making ur team ten times worse. If you don’t understand that then you clearly don’t know much about hockey and shouldn’t be talking down to me. I don’t formulate my opinions about the salary cap based on what the clowns in Vegas do.

Pitlick wasn’t qualified but sometimes that’s the same as being an RFA. Teams don’t end up paying those guys much most of the time.

Hence why I am extremely interested in seeing what Dubois ends up signing for 👀

10x worse tears of joy that's funny. Good one. Yes you must know soooo much about hockey you can put the exact value on what losing 2 middling players and gaining two more middling players changing scenery does to a team's future outlook. A real clairvoyant you are

Hmmm. Well let me see. There are 6 D on the ice, he is a #4... sooo it sounds like he's right in the middle to me. Does that add up? Maybe I need your help

Yeah he’s behind 3 fantastic defenseman. Doesn’t mean he would be the 4th best d man on every team in the league. That’s a ridiculous comparison.

Good thing I'm not arguing then : )

I've learned long ago that trying to convince some stubborn internet warrior to keep an open mind about a hypothetical trade that will never even happen is utterly pointless. In saying so, farethewell and god help Lou. Lord knows he needs it.

That's not what a comparison is. That was simply stating the facts. He is a middling Dman on colorado. Point finale.

Being a middle of the lineup guy reflects your ice time and your opportunity. Girard can play top four minutes and has played top pair minutes in the past.

On the other hand there is no such thing as a middling of the lineup guy. Are you joking or do you not know the difference?

I doubt any Avs fan would make this deal. The way you keep discussing this makes me think you don’t know anything about Girard lol.

Guess you haven't been following the nhl very long. UFA and RFA signings are always extremely different. You should educate yourself on them before trying to sound like a know-it-all.

And besides, hoffmans contract is for 2yrs at 4.5m... which is the exact same as Ghostisbeheres when he was traded to ARZ along with a 2nd & 7th rounder. Not to mention both he and Ghost were both pro-rated to put up ~42pts over an 82game pace. So yes, it is actually very likely hoffman gets moved for similar assets in a cap dump trade to a basement dwelling team.

    Thanks for the response sir.

Rem Pitlick was a UFA... since he was not qualified. He was available on the market and signed for peanuts.

Kessel, Statsny, Niederreiter, Rodrigues, Milano are 5 current unsigned UFAs who are all better than Hoffman and can be had cheaper.

You are not wrong about the precedent trades, but this offseason is an example of unprecedented times. Cap space is more valuable than assets who are not stars.

Rem pitlick signed a very cheap deal you're right but go check his shooting % it's not sustainable so don't quote me db numbers

Ok. But why would any team pay for Hoffman when Kessel, Statsny, Niederreiter, Rodrigues, Milano are all currently searching for a contract and can be had cheaper and on less term?
