For the record, Henrique was our third leading scorer this year and has a better record over the past season and past two seasons than Alex Kerfoot, to take just one player as an example. Yeah, someone far more knowledgeable about the Ducks than you'll ever be just said Henrique is far more valuable to us than Muzzin could ever be. With Henrique and without Muzzin, we'll probably have pretty much the same record in 2022-2023 as we did in 2021-2022. Without Henrique and with Muzzin, we'd be in Bedard contention.

Can't see Muzzin wanting to go to a rebuilding team at this point of his career even if they're in California.

Why would Anaheim do this? They would essentially be paying 7.5 Mil for Muzzin for 2 years. They have no reason to trade Henrique unless picks or long term assets are coming back.

Why does Toronto do this?

Absolutely bang on. That should have been my other point. Overlooked in all of this economic panic to trade Muzzin is the fact that Toronto was statistically tied with three other teams at the bottom of the 16 playoff squads in goals against last year, and has already lost Ilya Lyubushkin from that not-very-distinguished company. Losing Muzzin would, in my opinion, be a disaster to an already-shaky defense.

People think that I’m against either of the SoCal teams acquiring Muzzin because I have a low opinion of his on-ice value. On the contrary: I think Toronto would lose far more by trading him than they would gain, unless Dubas can manage to use his money to acquire a young stand-out defender to replace him.
