Description

I know this is a wild one, but listen.

Leafs perspective; Sandin wants to play his strong side, and instead of losing him to an offer sheet or keeping him disgruntled, this trade facilitates that. Plus Petry fits the timeline.

Habs perspective; Hughes has already stated that he will not retain salary or lose picks to move Jeff Petry and wants a veteran dman back in any deal because he's unwilling to throw their young D prospects to the fire.

Holl is essentially a cap dump.

And before you say anything... Yes, I am aware Toronto is in Canada, but Detroit is a 1hr flight. There, you're welcome Julie Petry and Leafs fans.

All dependent on Muzzin waiving his NMC for MTL of course, which is highly unlikely lol

this is pretty terrible for the leafs. The difference between petry is not near that and holl isnt a cap dump. Not to mention the leafs are moving muzzin for cap space which this actually makes worse. oh and Poehling is worthless

Just gave him the same contract as Liljegren because tbh I have no idea how much he'd be worth on a 2yr-deal

I'm sure that what Leaf management is hoping. But a 2.1m to 4m offer sheet costs a second rounder. Is Sandin worth over 2m,(I think so), but will a team offer sheet him, now that's more doubtful.

Anything is possible for sure. If I'm sandin I hold out for atleast a 2.5-3mil$ 1 year deal, seeing all the big money handed out to bottom pairing defensive dmen this FA. But being offersheeted is definitely on the table now you'd have to think after Dubas just signed Mete and Benn...
