Klingberg wouldn’t sign to play on the 3rd pair and that’s a terrible use of cap . Teams that don’t make the playoffs pay their 3rd pair D 7 mill

We know the Isles rotate their d-pairs pretty evenly. He would get PP time as well. They add a puck moving defenseman he's just a RD instead of a LD

They do not rotate the pairs evenly and you don’t want to do that anyways; no team who has won the cup does that. Klingberg also regressed big time over the past two years and we’re paying him more than Pelech/Pulock? It’s like we haven’t learned from signing Andrew Ladd lol.

The isles just need to tear it down and rebuild if they think signing 30 YO is the way. Contenders always look to get younger to extend the contention window and we’re looking to sign past their prime has beens

The Isles should try to extend Mayfield for 5 years at $2.5M (he gets an extra year for the lower cap hit) and then you have this for the next 5 years:

    Pelech-Pulock- 22 Minutes per night
    Romanov-Dobson- 22 Minutes per night
    Salo-Mayfield- 16 Minutes per night

There is no reason to add an unnecessary $7M contract to that D which looks very good.

Did a armchair GM that was based around idea of JT Miller trade... based of feedback from Nucks fans and I general consensus overall.. this def seems like the trade that would have to happen to acquire Miller

After seeing what Gudbrandson got, mayfield could easily get 4.5-5 mill x 4 in free agency

Yea, when I had seen the Gudbrandson contract I figured Mayfield is gone now because he will get the same.

But holding out hope they can re-sign him for $2.5M, anything more and the Isles cannot do it.

Canucks pass. It’s been rumoured they want a young impact player as the headliner, so they probably ask for Wahlstrom or Raty + a 1st and maybe another smaller piece

Mayfield already took one team-friendly deal when he signed 5x$1.45M, I can't see him leaving money on the table again
