Jackets wouldn't be able to afford Monahan. They need to shed cap to sign Laine as it is.

Jost is available for a reasonable price, but it sure as hell wouldn't be Zucker. I don't see why we'd want to bring him back. We traded him to Pittsburgh for a reason.

I mean - Zucker was moved to give Fiala a top 6 spot, which seems to be open now. That being said its still a lot of money for him. All things considered they are more likely to get him on a league min deal after this contract is over so he can be around his family.

Fiala's spot is going to Rossi. He's likely going to be on a line with Boldy and Gaudreau next year. Jost may be there instead of Freddy, but based on what we know of Evason, I doubt he drops Gaudreau to the 4th line.

I don't really buy the idea that we would bring him back just so he could be with his family. I understand the dynamics of his situation and how that must suck for him, but unless Guerin thinks Zucker will help move the needle and make the team better, I doubt he brings him back. He's running a hockey team, not a charity. Personally, I don't really see where he'd fit in the lineup and don't feel the need to run it back with him.
