It's not that serious man. PLD fits the identity of what Hughes and Gorton want for the team. It's not often you have a skilled, big, young center who you KNOW wants to play for your team. If they could snag him you obviously should. My gripe with acquiring him would come down to the contract. Anything above 7 I would say to stay away. As far as "can we stop with X trades". No, they will never stop so long as there aren't rumors of alternatives and no other moves cancelling the possibility of it happening are made. Not worth getting frustrated over others fake trades on a website made for people who obviously aren't the real GM of your favorite team lol.

They got the winger they needed and they got the big center they needed, if dach doesn't work out by the time he's 23 PLD will be a free agent and can come for 'free'

I wouldn't say that offer is nothing by a long shot. Think of the return for Fiala. Obviously he is not a 6 ft plus cente, but he was an RFA who is potentially a 40 goal scorer getting a return of a solid D prospect and a late first in a potentially weaker draft. Getting a return of a decent NHLer in Dvorak to fill the center role, a solid prospect offensive defenseman in Harris, and a first round pick from a rebuilding team is hardly "nothing". That return may be more enticing for a team who potentially he walks from at UFA anyway.

I agree but these moves are an indicator of what they want this team to become in the future. Obviously PLD could be a long shot or may never happen, not saying it will. My point is if this kid is literally saying he will not sign anywhere long term not named Montreal and he fits the exact identity this team is trying to build around, a move to acquire him is a no brainer. Additionally, Dach is not a proven commodity in the way Dubois is and neither is Slafkovsky even though I love the pick and am excited for his future. Either way these posts are just for fun man! Am just trying to build a semi-realistic roster to entertain myself!

As far as the waiting for free agency instead. Thats for sure a possibility. It's also a possibility that Hughes and Gorton wouldnt want to wait 2 years for that to happen.

I'm a California kid who loves the Canadiens. I can promise you that the "hes french" shtick isn't why he's in this ACGM. The "he must be a Quebec kid and speak french" logic in building a roster is something I feel for sure can ruin the team and is definitely frustrating.

No, it's a nothing offer. Dubois can't walk for nothing unless the Jets let him, which won't happen. The standard rental price of a first and his prospect at the TDL in 2 years is better than this, so there is no incentive for Winnipeg to trade him nite fir a Novak package.

Fiala is a bad example, Minnesota was forced to trade him and had no leverage. Right now Winnipeg has all the leverage, so they aren't even slightly comparable.

Bottom line the trade doesn't make the Jets better now or in the future, so there isn't any chance the Jets look at it.

To say Winnipeg has all the leverage just isn't true. This all comes down to negotiations with Dubois and whether or not he decided to file for arbitration for 2 years and LITERALLY walk for nothing after his years have been served. He has 2 years left on his RFA and the entire point I'm making is that there are rumors he only signs long term with Montreal because that's where he wants to be. No team is trading for a kid who will not stay with their team long term lmao. Not to mention his value probably, maybe not, but probably has taken a hit as a result of his past antics with CBJ and WPG. To say that offer doesn't make the team better in the future is also just not true so long as Dubois does not stick around. Harris is a decent prospect, perhaps you could improve the trade by replacing him with someone slightly more enticing, a 2024 first rounder from a team who just finished last in the NHL, and a decent centerman who can serve as a second line replacement in the short term for the guy you are losing at a cheaper cost with some of the best faceoff numbers in the league. We will just have to agree to disagree I suppose. As far as the Fiala comparison, I only bring him up as he is an example of an RFA being dealt most recently. Sure it isn't the best comparison I admit but the reasoning is to get a rough idea of potential return.
