I don't see that working for CBJ. They'd be giving up a young, cheap asset who the coaching staff loves and a 2nd in a loaded draft for a defenseman who's just good enough to make the team mediocre instead of bad in a year where bad is better for them long-term.

I'm less concerned about the effect on the team and more concerned about him 1) being yet another OFD and 2) having a contract that would get in the way of retaining a few of the kids

I mean, that too. Really hope they can ship out guys like Gaunce and Danforth rather than guys who can be a part of the future like Tex/Bemstrom/E-Rob/Foudy.

From seeing your ACGMs, it seems you think very carefully, I think that'd help you be successful in joining a Discord Hockey Be A GM Hockey League
Shall I explain more?
Would you be interested?

Gaunce will move up and down between the AHL/NHL with no problem so he doesn't take an opportunity from anyone. Danforth is also a guy that easily lines up as a 4th line winger that you can move in and out of the lineup as needed so he's not taking away an opportunity either. The ones that are really clogging things up for the young guys right now are Nyquist and Voracek, but they're the veterans that are going to be very valuable for helping those young guys grow over the next 2 years. It's gonna be interesting what Jarmo decides to do with the lineup and we might have to wait until early October to actually figure out what his plans are.

As for Petry, send him to a team that has potential for a deep playoff run. The Jackets would much rather sign a cheap UFA vet dman than pay anything for Petry and his far too expensive contract.
